Jackson County sheriff Denny Peyman says he’s found evidence of wrongdoing going back decades, but on Tuesday Judge-Executive William O. Smith, and treasurer Beth Sallee were arrested in what Peyman calls just the ‘tip of the iceberg.’
“People have not been able to go to a Fiscal Court Meeting without being bullied, thrown out of a meeting,” said Peyman.
Peyman says the arrests follow an audit of the year ending June 30, 2011, and he says it deals with unaccounted for money

There is also a Jackson County in Missouri but I knew it wouldn’t be that one. Good to hear about Kentucky!
The judge said the sheriff isn’t paying the courts and it’s hurting the system....including RETIREMENT.
This is a situation where you have to choose. Since the sheriff has told things that can be proven, such as not being reimbursed for expenses and his squad car being broken down, I’ll go with the sheriff for now. I know lots of cops are crooked. But a lot more lawyers are crooks.

There are Jackson counties in many states. Would have been nice to clarify which state this was in sooner.

Good to know. I guess like here in CA, the counties that are far from the population centers still have sheriffs who believe in the 2A. Here in the Bay Area they are all PC “politicians” who spend most of their time on their knees kissing the politicos rings.
