My Lord and Savior can take me anytime He wants. I have no fear of death. I'm ready.

I do, however, have a fear of pain.
But that is fleeting in most circumstances.

I read the Dr. Eben Alexander’s book, “Proof of Heaven”. It is stunning. I know it convinvced me. Unless he is a deliberate, almost pathological liar (and a neurosurgeon with a practivcce and a reputation to protect would simply not do that) then he has made his case!

Rel the Song; Both versions of ‘When I Die’ were great in their own way. Blood, Sweat and Tears had a rocking, take on that song. Their New Orleans / Dixie, with a little Blues sprinkled on top. It was a very masculine interpretation, with lots of bass, brass and a 4/4 rhythm (I think that’s the correct way to describe the tempo). Laura Nyro was a little lady with a big voice. Laura was a known talent early, having recorded some of her first work as a teenager. I have the Album with Laura singing many of her tunes, and covers for the rest. Laura’s backup singers were Patty LaBelle and the Blue Belles. Fantastic recording. A moment in time. Laura was one of the best songwriters, male or female of that time, although she was eclipsed and outshone by many who sang her compositions; i.e. The Fifth Dimension, who sang Laura’s Wedding Bell Blues, or Eli Is Coming, sung later by The Three Dog Night.

But that is a belief and the problem is what do we really know?

Well; there was this guy; about 1980 years ago that said...

When my Grandmother was a little girl, travel from her rural home to the nearby town for supplies was a two-day trip with her “Pa” by horse and wagon, an adventure she always remembered with great pleasure. As she lay dying (in her nineties), her last words were, “It's Pa! And he's coming for me in the wagon!”

I’ve always focused more on the biological imperative of living.

Without an instinctive passion to live, or an instinctive fear of death, no complex life form could have survived on Earth until fairly recent times.

In other words, if “this” life was not the most important thing in “your” life, you would have no life at all for very long.

I’m 63, and it would be really nice to know - empirically “know” - what happens next.

But that’s not going to happen, so I’m going to die as quietly as I can, and try not to be a nuisance to anyone.

The physical decline makes me sad.

I’ve been a lifelong runner, but, regardless of dedication, the human body will slowly but surely erode away.

Anyway, wherever I end up, I just hope it’s going to be a fair fight.

I died to self when I was Baptized, and for those in Christ there is no second death - no judgement. And I’m ready - any time . . .

But back to where I started -- all I know is this world and it seems such a shame that I will only have another 15, 20, or 30 years to enjoy the beauty of being – to share time with my wonderful wife, children and friends, to read books or to listen to music, to go to a Broadway musical or see a baseball game.

It was a warm summer Sunday. A Sunday just like hundreds before it; but THIS day I was just a bit down as I drove the same path to church I'd driven so many times before.

I'd passed a suv full of happy looking folks that where evidently heading to the reservoir for a day of fun on the water, for they were pulling a large outboard behind them.

'Why don't I take some time off and do the same?' was my thought, as I silently envied them. 'Why don't I get to do fun things?'

'There's never enough time for...'

Then that Other voice said, "There'll be PLENTY of 'time'; later on."
