I do, however, have a fear of pain.
But that is fleeting in most circumstances.
My fear is going before all my kids are out and established. After that I don’t fear it either.
And at my age, I don't even mind the pain...just let me outta here and buh-bye Obama!
Amen.
My husband narrowly escaped being killed on Saturday. He was putting gas in his Jeep, and heard the screaming of tires coming in his direction. He jumped out of the way just before a car driven by an elderly lady hit the pumps and his Jeep. She was trying to avoid a drunk driver who was heading toward HER.
The owner of the store told my husband that the video shows him leaping out of the way at the last instant. I really do believe God pushed him, and I’m so thankful, but I’m still shaken up. This world is like a tightrope walk...we have to be ready to leave at any time.
“My Lord and Savior can take me anytime He wants. I have no fear of death. I’m ready.
I do, however, have a fear of pain.
But that is fleeting in most circumstances.”
It is interesting to me that life seems to prepare us for death. As a kid, I feared death. Now that I’ve lived, done some things, and experienced my body and my faculties deteriorating, I’m ready.
Similarly, my biggest fear is the exit method. Quick and painless please.
I don’t fear death either but I do fear being incapacitated and not being able to take care of myself. My mother had a series of strokes and lived for 5 years and could do nothing for herself. I pray that when God takes me that He takes me quickly.
It ain’t death. It’s dying.
Exactly. I turn 60 very soon. The apostle Paul said to live is Christ and to die is gain.
I kinda look at it this way. Imagine this life is a video game you really, REALLY enjoy playing. SO you are in this video parlor playing your video game and one day you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. It’s like, while you are playing your game and trying not to get killed by the bad guys, or whatever, someone runs in and says, “Hey, some guy just dropped off a Bugatti and said it’s yours and you can drive it to the airport where your personal Lear Jet is waiting to take you wherever you want.
You love your game, but this may be a bit distracting. And when you DO get “killed” in your video game, it’s not exactly a disappointment as you run to your new car with keys in hand. :-)
I also have no fear of death. My husband and other family members still need me, though, so I want to be here for them.
Ah, yes, the pain idea. I also fear pain. If I must die a painful death, I hope the Lord gives me the strength to be brave.
