Spy Agencies Scour Phone Apps for Personal Data
The New York Times ^ | January 27, 2014 | JAMES GLANZ, JEFF LARSON and ANDREW W. LEHREN

When a smartphone user opens Angry Birds, the popular game application, and starts slinging birds at chortling green pigs, spy agencies have plotted how to lurk in the background to snatch data revealing the player’s location, age, sex and other personal information, according to secret British intelligence documents.

In their globe-spanning surveillance for terrorism suspects and other targets, the National Security Agency and its British counterpart have been trying to exploit a basic byproduct of modern telecommunications: With each new generation of mobile phone technology, ever greater amounts of personal data pour onto networks where spies can pick it up.

According to dozens of previously undisclosed classified documents, among the most valuable of those unintended intelligence tools are so-called leaky apps that spew everything from users’ smartphone identification codes to where they have been that day.

I was hoping for sudden fall from helicopter. Get’s up out of seat, freak gusts wildly buffet helicopter, persons fall against door joggling opening mechanism, opening it without intending, sudden lurch a particular passenger is tossed against door while it’s opening...Landing on and squashing pantsuit like two bugs smushed would a bit much to hope for, though?

- Obama has Eric Holder’s DOJ going after the producer of a movie about him - another movie about America is coming from the same people.

- Obama goes after anyone that exposes and embarrasses him.

- The young college grads will turn on Obama and the democrats - Feds profiting billions from .gov taking over college loans and universities jacking up prices - minorities skate on AA scholarships and middle class white students get ripped off tp pay for loans and obummercare.

- Hellicopter sounds excellent - esp. after “Boom-Boom” Biden turned on our Navy Seals -

And since the Administration has labeled the Tea Party a group of “terrorists” I guess that means members are enemies of the State.

The Almighty and Most Merciful State.

the question hinges on whether the electronic emanations from your device are ‘your effects’. evidently the nsa believe its not and regard it as free for the taking.

I agree with this completely. We need a lot more public information about elected and appointed government officials, plus any employee or contractor who makes decisions that affect us or who has access to our private information.

What I’d really like to see is some independent group that starts a website listing information about public officials. Nearly everyone has a cell phone with a camera. They should take photos of the comings and goings of all government officials and post them on some sort of watchdog “facebook.” Just keeping a record of the date, time, and location of the comings and goings of these people would give us a treasure trove of information about what they are up to. I’d start with 0vomit and Hillary. (Is she visiting a plastic surgeon? Campaign donors? Foreign nationals? Inquiring minds want to know.)

Violating their privacy? We keep hearing the argument that if you’ve got nothing to hide, you shouldn’t worry about the government having access to your private information. So if that’s true, it should be true for our “masters” as well.

Egypt’s Morsi and our Democrat’s Obama have the same Muslim Brotherhood mentality, and thus both men are opposed to the Common Law basis of American Culture.

The American-based logic system falls on the deaf ears of both men.

Both men have a “Big Picture” mentality of destroying their existing societies in order to establish their version of the Muslim Brotherhood System of governance.

Their responses during and after the 2012 Benghazi Murders were the most revealing insights into their shared Muslim Brotherhood values.

Neither Morsi or Obama can be reasoned with by their countrymen. Their Muslim Brotherhood Mentality prevents them from doing so.

Any opposition to their plans is used by them to strengthen their conviction that their plans are correct.

Egypt has figured all this is out, when will America do the same?

“My question is why? Why must they feel that they must have that level of invasion of our privacy?”

Orwell, _1984_:
“Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power.”
