Keith Dennis was walking home when he was approached by two men. One of the suspects held a knife to Dennis back and demanded money.
I thought I was going to die, to tell you the truth, because the knife was 10 inches long, said Dennis.
The men followed him home.
Dennis had a friend sleeping upstairs who sensed something was wrong. He came down and fired shots at the men.

Shoot to kill at my house. And then shoot again in the head.
Bravo, brave citizen.

Second Degree Murder charges, foolish citizen.
In most states, you are only permitted to use deadly force to stop deadly force. If the perp is stopped, further unwarranted force on your part could lead to your arrest for murder. Anti-gunners use your type of bravado to support their cause for disarming Americans.
Chasing down the perps was an obvious mistake and the homeowner will probably face charges.
Now, if the homeowner was a cop, he could go through the neighborhood enter homes (probable cause-chasing robber) confiscate people’s guns and money and shoot any suspects that he felt posed a threat.
Just aim for the head to begin with.
