Where the GOP-e is astoundingly (or rather distressingly) successful is driving wedge issues within their own party in the most inopportune of times.

Rush was talking about this today... his theory is the GOP-e either doesn’t want to win the majority or is OK with winning, but not by too large a margin. They’re fearful of the responsibilities of leading.

Imagine for a moment it’s 1994, and the following “prophecy” is placed in a time capsule to be opened in 2015:

Republicans will have total control of state government (House, Senate, and Governor) for 12 of the next 20 years, and two-thirds control (House and Senate) for an additional four of those 20 years, and here is a list of things they will NOT achieve...

Immigration was not even mentioned.
