Trump Vows to Cut NY Taxes by 50 Percent

Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy joined billionaire Donald Trump at his Super Bowl Bash in Palm Beach, Fla., on Sunday and heard first-hand from the real estate mogul what his key election plank would be if he chooses to run for governor of New York later this year.

Trump has been hinting for some time that he will challenge Democratic incumbent Andrew Cuomo in the 2014 New York gubernatorial race, but said previously that he will need the full support of the Republican Party.

"If we could have a unified party in New York . . . which we haven't had for a long time, many years . . . I would certainly give it very, very serious consideration, which I'm doing now," he told Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show" last month.

"There's got to be total unity because it's three to one in New York, Democrats to Republicans. It's a very hard race to start off with, and the last thing you want to do is go into a primary with somebody that can't win and have to spend time, effort, and money on winning . . . So, if there's unity, I would certainly consider it very strongly, and I've told them that."

Trump is a fraud, a charlatan, and an egotistic attention whore.

Therefore he'd be perfect as NY governor.

At least a far sight better than what New York has had.

Trump is a fraud, a charlatan, and an egotistic attention whore.

And as such is perfectly qualified to run for major political office. Those are NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS, not disadvantages. Beside as you said he'd be a 1000% improvement over the current ignorant arrogant lunatic.

I was about to say, he’s awful but still an improvement over the repulsive, mobbed-up Cuomo.

I agree 100%. I would never want Trump as a GOP candidate for President, but for all his many flaws, he would be a far better governor of my state than Emperor Andy.

Given his celebrity and money (?)he also might be the only one able to defeat our Fascist dictator, if he is serious about running.

I like the Don. He's tacky, self-centered and shallow...but he's better than anyone else for NY Guv.

Let him put his effort behind his mouth and see if he can do some good.

God knows NY State needs it.

Too bad for Trump that the liberals here in NY think that higher taxes are answer not the problem.

The moochers, who are more than 50% of the NY City (and most Blue State) voters, don't want taxes cut.

They want the government to be well funded so it can hand out more Free Stuff.

Trump is a fraud, a charlatan, and an egotistic attention whore. I agree with C. As to A and B: there is a difference imho between lacking integrity, taking shortcuts and being a wholesale cypher and a fraud like the squatter at 1600 Penn. Ave. Whereas the president is in reality something other than what he desires to publicly project, Trump pretty much is. Shameless self-promoter, self-seeking in the extreme, a poor example of free market capitalist, a good example of a Mises Institute definition of a “rent-seeker,” etc. Probably about as good a governor of New York as they could hope for under the circumstances. Once in office, he might reveal himself to be a total fraud by instituting various obnoxious policies to curry favor with salon liberals. The average voter is a dolt and might vote for Trump based on name recognition alone. I am not optimistic about the prospects for most northeastern states.

Cut taxes by 50%, regardless of what you think about Trump, this should bring out almost every NY taxpayer to the voting booths. IMO!

This is great, because it puts the heat on Cuomo to keep taxes down, which means he, in turn, has to say no to Bill de Blasio’s demands.

Cuomo will be in a vise, and de Blasio will be forced to take on Trump - good luck with that one.
