Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) says its time to rebuild America, not Afghanistan. He and three other senators want Congress to debate a continued U.S. military presence in that country after 12-plus years of war:
If military might or money would change that part of the world, wed have changed it by now, Manchin told a news conference on Thursday. [ ]
Manchin on Thursday joined fellow Democrat Jeff Merkeley (Ore.) and Republicans Mike Lee (Utah) and Rand Paul (Ky.) in introducing a resolution that says Congress should vote on the Obama administrations reported plan to keep 10,000 American troops in Afghanistan for another ten years.

Fallujah fell back to the muzzies. We died for nothing.
Dying for nothing has a cause behind it. That cause is in DC.
Sad to say, but by that same definition, US troops killed in the Bosnia debacle also “died for nothing”.
Nice turn of phrase, sad but true. We decided to fight Vietnam all over again, complete with the pretend allies.
The American people have the will, but only under certain circumstances.
(1) - We will only fight on the side of the good guys. Therefore, there must be good guys. Pretending one faction of the bad guys are in fact the good guys will not work for long.
(2) - We must be able to see measurable progress, from month to month, year to year. A moving line on the map is ideal.
(3) - Our leaders must declare that the objective is to destroy the enemy's will to fight, and then carry it out. Just as was done in 1865, 1918, and 1945.
Absent these three factors, the American people are inclined to quickly become war weary. And I can't say that I would blame them.
This winning the hearts and minds of barbarians is not working. How many of our finest men and women are gonna die or be permanently disfigured before we get the message?
That’s all undeniable.
The sick thing is that the people in DC have known who the enemy is for 35 years and insist on doing less than nothing about it.

Because they hate looking in the mirror.
One thing I’ve noticed about the COIN people, they seem to all worship Colonel William E. Kurtz, the character played by Marlon Brando in the movie Apocalypse Now.
When you look at DC today it’s as if all died for nothing.
I know that is not true but, take a look.
The enemy within needs killing.
