The ‘Rats were successfully able to blame Hoover for the effects of FDR’s economic incompetence for half a century or more.

Very good point.

Poor Bush. The only reason he did some of the things that he did was because he had a Dem House and Senate that passed a lot of things over which he had no control, with the result that over half of the debt incurred under him occurred during the two years in which the Dems controlled both houses. Most of the original debt came from the time the Dems controlled the Congress under Bush.

Bush was not an autocrat like Obama. If Congress told him to do something, he did it, right or wrong.

The ineptitude of GWB is the reason we have the peril we do today. GWB signed McPain-Feingold and anything else the Democrats told him to sign. I seem to remember that he vetoed practically nothing. I hate to punish the nephew for the shortcomings of the uncle, but no George P. for me.

When in the World will the GOP scream it from the rooftops at every turn on every show...excellent question - I am so tired of watching Republicans sit there with their thumbs in their mouths while 'rats complain about the "Bush recession" or the "failed policies of the last administration" - it would take only one simple sentence such as "this economic downturn is totally the fault of destructive Democrat policies over the last thirty years" to send the 'rat opposition into orbit, derail whatever lie they were going to spin, and give the Republicans a chance at least to get on the table a few points in favor of the truth - but that would take gumption and risk a bit of a fight, and we know how allergic Republicans are to those challenges......

"Because no dramatic event occured in 2000"

The NASDAQ dropped by nearly 50% in 2 weeks during the spring of 2000, right after the Clinton Admin lawsuit against Microsoft ruling came out.

Remember as well the Dems were accusing Bush of “talking down the economy” because the GDP was tanking during the 2nd half of 2000?

Enter dates “3/31/2000” - 5/31/2000” at the URL above and you’ll see the NASDAQ lost over 2,000 pts. over that 2 months period, right after the ruling against MS by the Clinton admin came in which started the “dot.com bust”

Believe it. I work at a major “onion” {my word for unions}, and one guy said that Leno should have shown a hit on Cruz because he shut down the gummit. There’s a thousand more like him. Most are from the east coast stealing oxygen here in CO.

Or “3/31/2000” to “12/29/2000”

GWB in fact inherited a bad economy, but never pointed a finger or uttered a word of blame.

GWB = Class
BHO = ASS

Bush was very easily intimidated and never defended his positions on legislation, although having so many traitors, such as McCain, in the legislature didn’t give him much support even if he had wanted to oppose them. Still, he wouldn’t have needed to be an arrogant dictator like Obama; there are legitimate, constitutional ways for opposing things, but he always wimped out.

I think it may be a family trait, although his brother, Jeb, was somewhat better when he was governor of Florida. I don’t know what Jeb’s son, George P., would be like though; I don’t know a thing about his positions, either in general on or specific issues. But as you say, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t have the personal force to stand up for them.
