I don’t know if they were flying on official state business or not, but if you think that the one party government that has always been the State of Hawaii does anything within the strict boundaries of law, then you are going to have a real problem understanding what goes on there. They weren’t flying on the State’s dime to attend some pig roast, were they?

I vaguely recall that I read that there was something odd about the flight...perhaps they were called at the last minute and told to get ready to fly back or something. The reason they’d gone to Molokai was for a short trip (a dedication of something, IIRC).

In any case, people in Hawaii seem to wear swim clothing all the time, something a mainlander like me found a little strange, so that may not mean much.

But I’ve flown out of Molokai from that very place, where tourist flights go out all the time, and the pilots are very careful and very experienced. It’s a scary landing and a scary take-off. But I think they’ve had an incredibly good safety record up to now, when the engine “inexplicably” stalled.

In the water, Fuddy held hands with deputy director Keith Yamamoto as he tried to help her relax, said the Rev. Patrick Killilea, who consoled Yamamoto after the ordeal.

‘He recounted how he said he helped Loretta into her life jacket and he held her hand for some time,’ the priest said. ‘They were all floating together and she let go and there was no response from her.’

Yes, I read that. I think she probably died of natural causes. One of the people around her said that she was ok but upset and then she suddenly sank and was just gone.

I think the group as a whole wasn’t very worried because they had their life jackets on, they were all accounted for (although I believe she had been pulled out of the plane by Yamamoto and the pilot) and they knew they’d be rescued because the pilot had called. But she was evidently not very fit or accustomed to being in water, and I think she just freaked out and died.

If it was sabotage, I’m not sure she would have been the target, in any case. Perhaps they all were.

It was all coordinated from that $358m NSA bunker on Oahu, where Eddie used to work. First, they cut the plane's engine by sending an encrypted message to a secretly attached telemetry module. Then, when Fuddy plopped into the water, a tiny device planted in her clothing activated and injected her with curare. Then the assassination device dissolved in the sea water, disappearing without a trace. Finally, before the engine could be recovered for analysis, Navy frogmen secretly visited it and removed the NSA attachment. I mean, if you want to get rid of somebody, can you think of a better, more reliable way?

Yes, and it might also have been coordinated via an alien race from a secret UFO base in Antarctica. It's very, very easy to mock a theory with uber-bogus imagined red herrings.

But in reality, it would be very easy to pay one particular pilot to make a soft belly landing, and then ensure that one particular lady on board didn't survive. Very easy. While "helping her out of the fuselage," just have him hold her under water. Very easy.

Keep an eye on the pilot. Either he dies in an "accidental crash" in the next year, or he disappears (with his payoff). But I'll bet that he's not giving interviews about the "crash." Or not for long.

From what I read, they had pulled her out (she was the only one semi-trapped) and she was distressed but had been floating and talking and everybody thought she was fine. Then she sank and I’m not even sure the other people realized this. It may have happened around the time the CG arrived. I don’t know because the reports were sort of sketchy and that’s all my information comes from.

Personally, I would have been pretty stressed because of the sharks...

“Were there drinks served before crashing?”

Well, off Hawaii they weren’t going down for ice.

Speaking of payoffs, isn't there a rather large suspicious sum of money that has been discovered in Fuddy’s bank accounts.
