John Kerry's brother has responded to charges of anti-Semitism against the U.S. Secretary of State by some conservative Israelis — including a prominent minister — by writing publicly about the family’s Jewish roots.
Cameron Kerry wrote a column in Israel's largest circulation daily newspaper, Yediot, saying the accusations “would be ridiculous if they were not so vile.”
The move illustrates how seriously the State Department wants to rebut the charge of anti-Semitism by some conservative Israeli critics of the Secretary of State’s peace negotiations.
Earlier this month, members of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet accused Kerry of endorsing "anti-Semitic" efforts to impose sanctions on Israel when he voiced concern that failure to reach a peace accord with the Palestinians could lead to economic boycotts.
"The risks are very high for Israel," Kerry said after a meeting with his Iranian counterpart in Munich on Feb. 2.
Naftali Bennett, the industry minister, was among several high-placed officials who responded to Kerry's comments.
"We expect of our friends in the world to stand by our side against the attempts to impose an anti-Semitic boycott on Israel, and not to be their mouthpiece," he said.

File under The lady doth protest too much, methinks John is not Jewish, if Cameron believes he is he displays his contempt for both Jewish and Catholic law (a Jewish gramps doesn't make you Jewish, being raised within the Church makes you Catholic, and you can't be both). Presuming he's a convert, he should know better. As a self described practicing Jew, if he hasn't converted he should. That the BDS movement is antisemitic is, imo, absolutely correct. And is different from accusing John of being an antisemite.
Of course he’s not, he’s Catholic. He had Jewish grandparents. His mom is a Forbes.
So was Franz Haber, the guy who came up with synthetic ammonia, he also however, tried to buy out Hitler with the concept of Zyklon B, which was pretty sick when you find out where this ended up going. In essence, this very man, who was born a Jew, gave Hitler a means of killing others of his heritage en masse.
Look for Kerry to modify his speeches: “As a veteran of the Six Day War.....”

There are a lot of ethnic Jews that are totally secular and anti-Israel and anti-God’s law.
If Kerry’s “Jewish”, that’s where he fits in.
Liberals love to throw the word racist around. Now the shoe is on the other foot. I think anti-Semitic is part and parcel of this administration.

Besides, look at all the Jewish people in the US who routinely vote for candidates who are openly opposed to our continued good relations with Israel.
Just for clarification, Kerry is as Jewish as Barry Goldwater, which is not at all. He had Jewish grandparents, but his mom was Rosemary Isabel Forbes of the wealthy Protestant China trading family. He claims not to have known he had Jewish grandparents until ten years ago.
I don’t think John Kerry is anti-Semitic. I think he is anti-Israel.

I assume it was his paternal grandparents? I knew about his heritage for years; this is nothing new. I’m surprised freepers didn’t know this; they’re usually so on top of things.
My memory’s a bit fuzzy this morning, but before his campaign, there was some short news blurb about him finding out that his grandfather was one of those who committed suicide during the stock market crash of 1929. The widow and her family changed their name to “Kerry” which was apparently somewhat close(?) phonetically speaking, to their Jewish surname, as I recall. I may have a few facts wrong, so go look it up, if you’re curious. I’ve got to go to work.
