Most of the Ukrainian Navy resigned last week, I’m not shocked, It’s a Russian Navy. The Black Sea Fleet.

And it’s likely that most of the Ukraine Armed Forces are loyal to President Yanukovich, not to the unelected gang in Kiev.

They don’t have air force as well. How could a dozen Russians arrive to a major airbase in Crimea and capture it without a shot fired? It seems like Ukrainian military has picked sides and don’t want Galician Nazis to run the show.

The Ukrainian military is loath to get involved in a civil war and Russians are fellow Slavs.

If its a war, there has been so far no loss of life and no bloodshed. But things can quickly change without warning.

The Russians and Eastern Ukranians remember the US from Serbia/Kosovo, and they remember the ethnic Russians in South Ossetia.

It’s not good for the Ukrainians. Can they even trust their own military?

Oh come on...they really aren't all that different anymore.

Nashi may call themselves anti-fascist, but white nationalism is part of their program as well.

It's just a dispute over who is more zealous in kicking out non-whites, muslims, jews and anyone else who isn't vaguely Slavic.

Funny that Putin and his gang accuses others of being "fascist", they're the most successful fascists I've ever seen...

As matter of fact, it is good that the Ukrainian military is not going into a shooting war. The Ukrainian military protects the people; killing them and destroying cities would be a bad way to protect them. So far the people are threatened only by roving bands of Nazis; those bands are, in fact, threatened by both Ukrainian and Russian armies, as they should be.

The current situation cannot be won militarily - at least because there is no specific political problem that can be resolved by military force. This applies to both Ukrainian and Russian armies. Their task at this point is simply to prevent further violence. Crimea, or any other territory, physically cannot be annexed by Russia without approval of the people who live on those territories. If you were the US President, and if you could annex Afghanistan, would you do that and grant all Afghanis free access to the US land?

The Parliament isn't unelected. And Yanukovich's bid to make himself President-for-Life is not very different from Chile's Salvador Allende's attempt to entrench himself in power by nationalizing everything in sight, including the press.

So they defected to Scotland?

The Russians won’t mind granting the Crimeans access to their land. Most are ethnic Russian
