Even the Hapless Jimmy Carter Wasn't This Bad
Real Clear Politics ^ | March 2, 2014 | by Jack Kelly

Leaders of other countries don’t respect President Barack Obama, said 53 percent of respondents in Gallup’s annual World Affairs poll, conducted Feb. 3-6. That only 53 percent of Americans think this is an indictment of the news media’s coverage of foreign affairs. --SNIP--

The key elements of his foreign policy were to be a “reset” of relations with Russia, and outreach to Muslims. His Russian policy has been a total failure. But it hasn’t backfired as much as has Mr. Obama’s “outreach” to Muslims.

Because he so often has “led from behind,” blustered and retreated, our enemies don’t fear our president; our allies don’t trust him; neither do they respect him.

American influence has shrunk along with the president’s stature. During the crisis there, Ukraine’s defense minister refused to accept calls from our secretary of defense.

Not even the hapless Jimmy Carter made so big a mess. Relations have soured even with Canada, which is tired of being jerked around on the Keystone pipeline.

It’s time the news media noticed.

That we reelected Obama in 2012 has caused the US to go to heck in a handcart at an accelerating pace. The same would have happened if the American people had been dumb enough to reelect Carter in 1980. The big difference between 1980 and 2012 was the GOP candidate. In 1980 Reagan offered a vision of a great American strong, independent and not willing to tolerate neither the economic malaise nor humiliation by Iran we endured with Carter. In 2012 the GOP offered Mr. Bland, slick, cool, but lacking any fire in the belly. Romney had a few glimpses of being a good candidate...remember the second debate where he wiped the floor with a feckless Obama? However, the RINOs and wishy-washy consultants fearing a backlash from the nonexistent “moderates” pulled him back to beige.

Since MSM is totally in the tank for the sniveling punk in the white hut one should not expect them to take notice of anything the clown does other than support gay marriage, green energy and blah,blah...

Carter was simply inept, well meaning but inept.

Obama is taking the country right where he wants it to go, and doing so while making people believe he is trying to do good for the nation.

ps: see months old tagline

I often believed that as well; however, this difference this time is that the MSM became wholly corrupt and clearly put their thumb on the scale of the election. The corrupt MSM sold themselves out to ensure Obama was elected and re-elected. The debate moderators were among the many examples of that corruption.

I can’t imagine Obama acting to defend us, even in the face of extreme circumstances. I really can’t him deploying any forces or assets. Nothing he’s done gives us any reason to think he would do so.

Ain’t that wonderful . . . while Russia invades the Ukraine, sissy-pants goes to a dance recital for one of his brats. That’s our so-called leader of the free world.

Of course, Valerie Jarrett was probably in the White House building, so all was not lost.

I agree. He would not, willingly. But wouldn't public opinion force congress to act (even the Demonrats), forcing the hand of the Usurper-in-Chief? And if he did not act, would he not be impeached and removed?

“Now, now. In fairness to Jimma, he only had four years to display his incompetence.”

What that really means is 1) in general, our “voters” have become more stupid since the ‘70’s and 2) they harbor “black guilt.”

It was amazing how impotent America became under Carter, but Obama has taken the country far beyond that low point. And unlike the late-70s, when there was still a large, older populace from the WW2 generation and even before, whose worldviews were grounded in common sense... America-2014, drenched in a soup of decadence, PC-madness, and anti-Christianity, is a moral sewer.

We now have an America where the mere sight of the American flag is often banned for being too “offensive!” Where students get suspended for nibbling pop-tarts in the outline of a gun! Where everyone is expected to bow down and celebrate homosex! Mass insanity. Mass, depraved insanity.

Carter’s America was merely humiliating. Obama’s America is a vomitous cesspool.

Hapless Jimmy didn’t get a second term. The nation woke up and smelled the pasture patties from his administration. No such luck with this ignorant bastard.

Carter would have produced a terrible second four years. We were so lucky to have Reagan pick up the mantle. Without him, this nation would have been where it is now decades earlier.

Much of the current population is dumber than that point in time and acquires political insight from such outlets as late night comedy shows. We have many people who crave dependency rather than earning it and the bulk of those who possess that mentality will vote for the person who represents Big Daddy Government.

Carter was an angry, petty little man. He micro managed the Whitehouse tennis court schedule. I never believed anyone could be worse.

A major difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals want most of all for America to be loved by the rest of the world while conservatives are far more concerned that America be respected. Under this administration, America is gaining neither respect nor love from the rest of the world.

When America takes the lead in world affairs and is hated by everyone else the world is a much safer place. When America takes a backseat in world events and strives to be loved rather than feared we get what we have today, a world without strong leadership anywhere and despots and tyrants calling the shots and fearing no retaliation from the United States. Where are all those liberals now who whined about making the rest of the world love us?

2012 wasn’t the parallel with 1980. 2016 will be.

I truly believe that we are seeing Fate, or the Lord’s hand, or whatever you want to call it, play out before our eyes. This is exactly the catalyst that will propel Sarah Palin into the Oval Office.

Look at the parallels:
Sarah warned of weakness tempting the Russians.
Ronald Reagan warned of weakness tempting the Soviets.

Obama’s weakness invites Russian aggression into Ukraine.
Carter’s weakness invited Soviet aggression into Afghanistan.

Sochi Olympics 2014, Russian invasion same year
Moscow Olympics 1980, Soviet invasion same year.

Obama’s response: Boycott G8? Whoopee.
Carter’s response: Boycott Olympics? Whoopee.

Sarah needs to step up the pressure and keep comparing this moment to 1980. She needs to run on foreign policy strength, lower taxes, greater freedom, and love of country. She IS the second coming of Ronald Reagan, and God is showing that to us in unmistakable terms right now.

Once she is inaugurated, she can look for freedom fighters to support around the world, including in Ukraine.

Regan ran against Carter and took on the dims. You could argue that Romney took on the economy only, and did not respond at all to the continuing destruction of our liberty, freedoms, and property rights. In other words he simply didn’t fight. Romney was not smart enough to tell his pubbie “strategists” to go to hell and field a campaign that actually gave him a chance at election. Having watched elections for some time now I have become convinced by emperical evidence the pubbie strategists intend pubbie candidates to loose and at all costs for marxism to win. Suggestion for pubbie candidates, if your strategist tells you not to fight, fire them and hire someone with some guts. Then go destroy the dims. Simple.
