As the fires die down from the turmoil in Kiev, a political party that has been accused of promoting anti-Semitism and xenophobia is set to reap the benefits of the new government arrangement.
The Svoboda Party will take control of not one, but three ministries in the interim government.
These posts include the deputy prime minister and the heads of the agriculture and environmental ministries. In addition to these positions, a Svoboda lawmaker was appointed the new prosecutor general in the interim government.
Svobodas leader, Oleh Tyahnybok, is one of the leading opposition figures during the recent crisis in Ukraine and met with Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain when the former presidential candidate visited the tumultuous country last December.
Tyahnybok and other party leaders have been accused of making numerous anti-Semitic and racist remarks. In 2004, Tyahnybok urged his party in a televised speech to fight the Moscow-Jewish mafia ruling Ukraine.
In 2012, deputy party leader Ihor Miroshnychenko called actress Mila Kunis, who was born in the Ukraine, a dirty Jewess, which instantly drew international condemnation. Another party official, Yuriy Mykhalchyshyn founded a think tank called the Joseph Goebbels Political Research Centre, which was named as a tribute to the notorious Nazi propaganda minister.
Even the founding name and original name of Svoboda bear an eerie resemblance to the Nazis. They were founded as the Social National Party of Ukraine and adopted the wolfsangel rune as their party logo, which was also a symbol used by Waffen-SS divisions in World War II and is a popular icon among neo-Nazis.

Kiev city hall now has a banner of Stepan Bandera, a WW2 Nazi collaborator. The far right in the Ukraine... pic.twitter.com/AbufIIkhN1
The Nazis are not far right.
I wonder if they’re going to put up a banner of John Kerry and John McCain, too.
In 2005 Tyahnybok signed an open letter to then Ukrainain president Viktor Yushchenko urging him to ban all Jewish organisations, including the Anti-Defamation League, which he claimed carried out “criminal activities [of] organised Jewry”, ultimately aimed at the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
In a leaked phone conversation with the US ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, US secretary of state Victoria Nuland revealed her wish for Tyahnybok to remain “on the outside” but to consult opposition leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk “four times a week”.

c) John McCain has been the big driving force for regime change against Yanukovych, but McCains 2008 campaign chiefs lobby firm, Davis Manafort, managed Yanukovychs political campaigns and his lobbying efforts in the US.

“What role the neo-fascists and descendants of Bandera will play in the near-term future is the big question. Their role in the protests vanguard is definitely scaring a lot of people in the east of Ukraine and Crimea, and could precipitate a violent split. On the other hand, by far the most likely scenario is that the neo-fascist/ultranationalists in Svoboda will be absorbed into the pro-West coalition and politics, as theyre still a minority in the coalition. Neoliberalism is a big tent that is happy to absorb ultranationalists, democrats, or ousted president Yanukovych.”

Oh, this will be rich. No wonder the rabbi urged his people to flee the post-putsch Ukraine.
Svoboda (political party)
The All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda” translated as Freedom, is a Ukrainian nationalist political party and currently one of the five major parties of the country.Five members of the party hold positions in Ukraine’s government.
The party was founded in 1991 as the Social-National Party of Ukraine a reference to National Socialism

It's more than outrageous, I have no words to qualify it. It's for THAT the Allies fought in the WWII, to see again THIS? What has become of the "Never again" ?
Svoboda leader Oleh Tyahnybok, he has claimed that a "Moscow-Jewish mafia" rule Ukraine and that "Germans, Kikes and other scum" want to "take away our Ukrainian state."
I would think the principal of protecting a sovereign nation from invasion by an enemy superpower would trump the messed up beliefs of one party within the invaded country.
That being said, I am still not sure how much we should involve ourselves in this particular fight.
"Anyone that looks out for their own people are accused of "anti semitism" (tm)."Were the racial policies of the 3rd Reich justified? Was the Final Solution justified? Ukrainian Jews, secular or religious, do not trace their political or ideological lineage to Lazar Kaganovich, but many Ukrainian Ultra-Nationalist groups do trace their political and ideological lineage to Stepan Bandera.
Look up who implemented the Holodomar and why it was done. Would you feel better if Ukrainians implemented DNA testing for immigrants?

They also arm and support Christian killing jihadi terrorists trying to overthrow the legitimate government of Syria.
You know that Stepan Bandera fought the Nazis as well as the Soviets, right?

I read a fascinating article this morning about a former IDF soldier (a Ukrainian Jew) who fought alongside and took orders from the Banderists. He seemed to have little problem with them.

The poster of this thread has been doing Putin's job on Free Republic in the last days, seeking out and posting articles alleging Nazism (that is as I understand it membership in the NSDAP party which we all thought had ceased existing), and various other mortal sins against American made political correctness among the Ukrainians.
