[The Idiot Speaks] McCain: Obama Smartest Man in the Room

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), always currying favor with the press, made sure when he criticized Barack Obama he also ladled praise on him, calling Obama the smartest man in the room when recalling the series of dinners last year between Obama and GOP senators. Speaking with Time magazine, McCain said:

I thought when he had a couple of dinners with Republican senators, we really had a good environment there. Because he is a very, very articulate and attractive guy in a setting with eight or nine senators and him. Because he was smarter than the rest of us. But I don’t see that now. I don’t see any of that.

McCain also said, “There are some things that he could find that we could do on a bipartisan basis, and that may not be his top agenda items, but he’s got to do more outreach.”

Those dinners were termed a success at the time by press secretary Jay Carney, who said the White House was encouraged and what “seemed to be sincere interest in avoiding constant crisis, sincere interest expressed by the participants in the dinner.” He added that Obama said one of the meals was “very constructive and very pleasant.”

But after Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) met with Carney last week, and following Obama’s recent pronouncements of his intention to use executive actions to bypass Congress, Carney said it was “a press misconception that the success or failure of legislation in Congress depends on the relationship between a president and a Speaker or a president and a leader in Congress.”

Rush actually had it right: When Obama walks into a room, he is instantly the least knowledgeable person in the meeting.

I’d still rate the lead paint as having a higher IQ.

Given the actions [or rather lack thereof] on the part of [most of] the GOP senators, I'm not going to disagree.

McCain has confused arrogance with intelligence.

McCain is confused.

easy to believe and add the weekend reports he didn’t even attend the briefings on the Ukraine.

What was he doing playing video games? Working on his March Madness picks?

Probably the result of being knocked on the head too many times while he was at the Hanoi Hilton.

McCain must have been alone with Obama when he came to that conclusion.

In a room with 8 or 9 Republican Senators? He could very well be the smartest person in the room, but then so could my dog.

If it’s only McCain, Biden and 0 in a room, I’d have to concede that 0 is probably going to be the smartest one in the room

Here is the technical definition of intelligence:

those who have an IQ between 0 and 25 are idiots; IQs between 26 and 50 are considered imbeciles; and those who have an IQ between 51 and 70 are considered morons

well.. since John McCain is certainly an idiot, he might be correct in stating that Obama was the smartest man in the room, since Obama is only an imbecile.
