A strange one, this. Rep. Steve Stockman said (sometimes ghost-tweeted) fiery things, but never really bothered to run a campaign, as far as anyone was able to tell....

He crushed the closest competition but not those who finished 3rd, 4th, or 5th?

the incumbants are a means to an end.

They are like debt to build a business.

Right now he is in the race however, the lesson is he had to spend money to keep his seat that should have been a walk. You build up the conservatives to outnumber and then retire the rinos.

I don’t buy for one moment these results. No one here wanted these two; but somehow we got them. Must of been those 2 for one voting machines you don’t see. Also, how anyone could vote for either Patrick or Dewhurst is beyond me. They might as well be the same person. I thought people wanted change. And wet behind the ears George P. Bush who just wants to continue the family business. Well, something stinks in TX right now and it’s not the voters.

If anything cornyn won via vote splitting.

No, he won by getting enough votes to avoid a runoff.

I’ll take someone I agree with 60 percent of the time over someone that votes against my interests all the time. The dems get this- its why we have Obama.

It’s not Cornyn vs Cruz. It’s Cornyn vs a Dem.

Thank you for posting that.

So there will be no runoff. (Sigh). That’s disappointing.

40% of Texans voted against Cornrows many of those will not vote for him in November. I for one will be voting for his RERAT opponent.Screw your silly lectures I will be voting for the enemy one way or another.

I don't agree with Cornyn 60% of the time. Or even 30% of the time. He won't get my vote in the general.

You have an extremely low threshold for fidelity to principle.

With that standard, you will continue to get the Trojan Horse, Traitorous, Democrat Collaborators in both the Senate and House that we have today.

Thanks for the info. It puts the primary into perspective. It should also put the fear of God into Cornyn. 40% of the Reps who were energized enough to vote in the primary wanted someone other than him to be their senator.

He doesn't represent my views on anything. He actively works against my wishes on most things. Why would I vote for someone like that?

We are going to have to figure out a ground game that can counter TV ads. I only saw Cornyn ads on TV. The only thing relevant at the voting location was a big yellow sign that said “Cornyn funded Obamacare”. No candidate name, no indication of who to vote for other than Cornyn. I saw nothing from Stovall, who got my vote because I researched it.

Time to get smart, and start using social media and other methods to get our candidates name recognition, and get voters educated. It has to be daily, consistent, continuous activity, starting now.

More than half a million Texans in Cornyn’s own party voted against him. But of course, the Cornyn/Rove apologists will pretend that never happened.

Not really. Rick Perry only got 51% in the Texas GOP gubernatorial primary in 2010 against Hutchison and Medina, but still cruised to a comfortable double-digit win in November that year against the Democrat.i>

I think it is significant. We are not talking about whether the primary will determine whether Cornyn will be reelected or not. He will be reelected.

And using the Perry 2010 primary is comparing apples to oranges. Hutchinson was an Establishment candidate and Medina a Tea Party choice. Perry had been governor for ten years.
