No brainer: Three reasons why a $10.10 minimum wage is good for America(Barf Alert)
CNN Opinion ^ | March 5, 2014 | Gov. Peter Shumlin,Gov. Dan Malloy

(CNN) -- Democratic governors are working every day to grow and strengthen a middle class that's been under assault from global economic forces and failed, trickle-down policies for decades. In furtherance of that mission, we will be proud to stand with President Barack Obama, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee at Central Connecticut State University this afternoon to announce actions we're taking to raise the minimum wage in our states to $10.10 an hour by 2017.

I have a question. If a minimum wage is a good thing, and that minimum wage needs to change as prevailing economic conditions change, then why do the liberals never support lowering the minimum wage when the economy is anemic?

Then why should we be so insensitive! Let’s make it $480.77 an hour, then everyone can become millionares in one short year!

40 hrs @ $7.25 == $290

29 hrs @ $10.10 == $292.90

If your work is worth more than minimum wage, you’ll be paid more than minimum wage.

If your work is not worth what you’re being paid for it, you’re a thief.

This is from the same governor who is about to send SWAT teams to forcibly take property (AR-15’s etc.) from CT citizens. I take ANYTHING he says with a grain of salt.

The truth of the matter is that the original institution of a minimum wage was to block entrance into the labor market for “undesirables.”

http://www.theblaze.com/blog/2014/02/13/americans-love-the-minimum-wage-unless-you-tell-them-the-truth-about-it/

“Sidney Webb, English economist and Co-Founder of the Fabian Society in the early 1900s, believed that establishing a minimum wage above the value of “the unemployables” as he called them, would lock them out of the market thus eliminating them as a class.

“Of all ways of dealing with these unfortunate parasites the most ruinous to the community is to allow them unrestrainedly to compete as wage earners.” – Sidney Webb

Many in America shared this belief as well. Around the same time, a Princeton economist said this: “It is much better to enact a minimum-wage law even if it deprives these unfortunates of work, better that the state should support the inefficient wholly and prevent the multiplication of the breed than subsidize incompetence and unthrift, enabling them to bring forth more of their kind.”

Who was that Princeton economist? Royal Meeker, U.S. Commissioner of Labor, under Woodrow Wilson.”

it makes good economic sense.

The side effects of raising the minimum wage are worse than the disease and are an assault on the poor:
raising the minimum wage leads to either an increase in unemployment which affects mainly the poor, or higher costs of production, or both. Higher costs of production lead to higher prices which leads to lower standard of living of the average worker.The poor are the ones who can least afford the higher prices and having their standard of living reduced.

It seems the economy and inflation absorbs the minimum wage within 3-5 years. So, the minimum wage is only ever a temporary wage increase. However, it also jacks with the economy so I can pay my house off quicker. :)

The rest of the article is just an attack on Republicans.

The whole basis for the Democrat party is the hatred of things Republican.

When the usurper landed in the WH, min wage was $5.15. He wants to double it. Has your pay check doubled in the last 5 years? Mine has gone down. This is nothing but #20,847 in the How To Destroy America list.

Spent almost 40 years lending to small and medium ($5-15 million in sales) sized businesses. Raise the minimum wage and you destroy jobs for the unskilled, starter or part-time jobs for students, and generally retard business growth in general. While Democrats portray businesses as being wealthy, these are the individuals who have risked and generally still risk all of their assets in order to provide jobs to others. As they grow in sales and profits, so do jobs. Lawyers and lawmakers seem to ignore this fact.

I’ve been through every imposition/revision of the minimum wage since 1965 ($1.25/hr), and EVERY time the libs have bawled about the poor unfortunates who will FINALLY be able to climb out of their sad state of poverty and take a seat at the table with all the other ‘haves’ of the nation.
AND EVERY time it has proven to be a lie. All we have succeeded in creating is poor people with a little more money to spend on the escalating prices that resulted from the increase in the minimum wage.

It’s a BS argument by ignorant liberals trained in Keynesian economic theory and Marx’s theory of governance.
