Today’s Russia is a open society compared to the Soviet time. People can oppose Putin and they won’t be sent to Siberia. People can openly practice their religion and churches are being rebuilt. Russians can now travel abroad. It has to be admitted the dark side of Russia is massive corruption and lack of transparency. When all is taken into account though, one thing stands out: no one wants to go back to the Soviet time.

...echoing what a Soviet radio announcer did 30 years ago.Yep, Russia and the Russian government are still 100% Communist, just like 30 years ago, and the US government is still stridently anti Communist, just like 30 years ago.
