Last weekend, I reported on Connecticut John Cinque's 2013 warning to lawmakers that he would not comply with their attempts to force the citizens of Connecticut to register their semi-automatic weapons and high capacity magazines. Since that time, the video, though a year old, has gone viral. However, in a recent video between Mr. Cinque and Connecticut gubernatorial candidate Joe Viconti, Cinque reveals that a Branford, Connecticut police officer told him, "I Cannot Wait to Get the Order to Kick Your Door In."

Thus far, the cop has DONE nothing. He hasn’t expressed a wish to harm Cinque, nor has he expressed a hope that harm somehow comes to Cinque. Posters here have expressed hope that harm comes to the officer though. Shame on them.
The officer has DONE nothing nor has he ABUSED his AUTHORITY in NOT doing anything.

While I would agree that he hasn’t DONE anything overtly illegal (and he should continue to go home safe), he has made an inflammatory statement that was completely foolish and I will bet not in accordance with his department’s policy (as opposed to what most of them may think). And at the minimum, the comment is a veiled threat to harm a citizen. You can bet if a citizen said he couldn’t wait to “kick in the front door of the PD,” you’d be arrested and all of your weapons taken. In order to defuse the situation, the chief of his department should issue a public reprimand to the officer and make it very clear that these kinds of public statements cannot be made. Since this whole misguided law is “supposed” to be there to “reduce” the chance for gun violence, it would seem to me that this kind of public “pronouncement” needs to be avoided. But the fact that is was made, is indicative of how some in law enforcement see their job.

What would happen to me if I told a cop that I couldn’t wait for him to do a traffic stop on me, in the same tone this cop made his comment?
