McDaniel College in Westminster Maryland finds itself at the center of a controversy after it was revealed that a fraternity and sorority jointly sponsored a party themed CMT (Country Music Television) vs BET (Black Entertainment Television). Probably be chastised because they article placed CMT first and bet second. Gotta be some sort of "code" there. These kids haven't learned that diversity is a one way street. EVERYTHING "they"(liberals/socialists/progressives) do is okay. NOTHING you(conservative) do is ok. Sounds fair and tolerant. Right?

I find both of them, and the ‘cultures’ they represent to be nearly unwatchable. I suppose I’m a little more sympathetic to the CMT side. lol

Yep, and no mention of the “offensive, redneck stereotypes” like mullets and crooked teeth — just African American afro’s and big behinds. Uh oh. I guess Saturday Night Live better start closing up shop with all their stereotypes, right?

Gotta agree there. But I guess I’m in no position to judge since I’ve never watched anything on bet. Maybe because having been to see a black (supposed) comedian, I was so insulted and disgusted at what he “got away with” that I don’t care to watch. As far as cmt, it appears that a lot of the shows go out of their way to find what appear to be the most ignorant appearing folks they can to make it appear that all “rednecks” are thus represented. What cha gonna do? I guess not watch. LOL!

Looks like equal-opportunity offensiveness to me.

I tnink the way this works, is that there is a double standard.

It would be ok to make fun of white redneck type people, because they are not part of an officially recognized grievance group.

But it is not oOK to make fun of black people in any way, because blacks are an officially recognized grievance group. Thus, by definition, any humor or parody is considered racist and bigoted.

Of the two fan groups, it is telling which group is offended and which is not. CMT fans can be parodied all day long and will just laugh with you.

I heard this several days ago. Who cares?

The only reason they care is because of the BET reference. If it was just CMT, they wouldn’t give a damn. Redneck white trash doesn’t count.
