Mystery Malaysia flight may have been hundreds of miles off course (CNN Breaking)

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was hundreds of miles off course, traveling in the opposite direction from its original destination and had stopped sending identifying transponder codes before it disappeared, a senior Malaysian Air Force official told CNN Tuesday.

If correct, these are ominous signs that could call into question whether someone in the cockpit might have deliberately steered the plane away from its intended destination, a former U.S. aviation investigator said.

"This kind of deviation in course is simply inexplicable," said Paul Goelz, former managing director of the National Transportation Safety Board.

(snip) The Malaysian Air Force lost track of the plane over Pulau Perak, a tiny island in the Straits of Malacca -- many hundreds of miles from the usual flight path for aircraft traveling between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing, the official said.

on 9-11 the planes were flying low to the ground and not over water

I could be wrong (of course!) but to me, it seems pretty clear someone stole the plane. If it crashed, some sign would have been found by now. If it was deliberately crashed as an act of terrorism, some group would have proudly proclaimed it by now.

I think it has been stolen by persons unknown (very likely a terrorist group, but who knows) for later use.

I think the Pilot and Copilot were muzzies, so they would have been in on a plan. Or dead.

ATCs wouldn’t have been squawked if it was an inside job and the pilot and copilot were in on it ....

And tell the pax they have to divert for mechanical reasons, etc.

My guess is the “assylum seekers” were typical Muslim thugs.

Wow, go to Google maps and check out the airport on the tiny little island of ‘Car Nicobar’.. That could easily accommodate a 777 landing. I’m shocked this little island has a major airport.

Car Nicobar is an Indian Air Force Base. IOW, probably not an optimal destination for a stolen airliner, despite having an 8914-foot runway.

If that's the case, not admitting they shot it down doesn't seem to serve a purpose.

I think if the idea that hijackers blew up or damaged a plane is bad, the idea that a military shot it down is worse. Passengers would know, if hijacked, they are already as good as dead.

Confessing military involvement in a deliberate civilian shootdown would be a very difficult thing for any government to do.

So those in the jet fighters and the pilots on the airliner were all in on the conspiracy?

I’m not sure they would waste time asking his permission any more.

So the ATC, the fighter pilots and those in the missing airliner were all in on the terrorist plot?

Back when navigation was a science and people had to be good at it.
Oh, and there were three people in the cockpit instead of two.

Well, if we’ve decided on a shoot-down - I’m about 85% there - then debris will be found soon once a center-fuel-tank-spark explanation is successfully hatched.

Yikes. One Malaysian fighter pilot ready to die for 72 virgins would be an embarrassing thing for the authorities to admit. This aircraft could've been destroyed midair by a Malaysian fighter pilot.

The MAF has 8 F/A-18's and that is a potent weapon for any commercial airliner.

Oil Slick was tested — it belonged to some ships in the area.

Why do you keep posting “Burma”? You think the airliner is there?
