The Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong has received a pilot’s report that a large amount of debris was spotted in Vietnamese waters.
The pilot, flying a Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur plane, says the debris is located about 60 kilometres southeast of Vietnamese city Vung Tau, some 500 kilometers from where the Malaysian jetliner lost contact with air traffic controllers. The department has submitted the message to the relevant authorities.
All kinds of kooks come out of the woodwork when these things happen. You could have the plane exploding on videotape and someone will deny it.
There have, however, been airlines that have been shot down by missiles.
Our own Navy shot one down.

Also for all: on the exploding center tank thing. The traditional McVey style fertilizer bomb uses diesel and what? An oxygenator.

I hope you’re right and if I had to bet I would bet that we know where it is by now so it shouldn’t be long. If the passengers are being held on the plane it complicates things though.

It only takes the turn of one knob to change the transponder signal.
ATC issues the code that you put into the transponder.
You can squak 7500 for hijacking or 7600 for lost communications, all it takes is twisting of the 4 knobs to set any code you want.

Yeah that whole asylum thing seems fishy considering they used their legit passports to enter Malaysia on the 28th of February.
