Details surrounding Jeffrey Corzine’s death aren’t immediately known. According to a source, the younger Corzine had been working as a drug counselor at a well-known Malibu, Calif., treatment facility. He himself had struggled with substance abuse in the past but was believed to be sober, the source said.

Corzine had been working as a drug counselor at Promises, a well-known drug treatment facility in Malibu, and was also an aspiring photographer.
Corzine, the youngest of the three children the former politician had with ex-wife Joanne Corzine, was a frequent presence during his father’s successful campaigns for governor and lovingly stuck by his dad’s side after he was badly injured in a 2007 car wreck.

Sometimes drug use causes irreversible damage to the heart or other organs.
He could have been completely clean, but suffering some sort of damage years before.
