The magnitude of Obamacare's failure is becoming increasingly clear every day. Enrollment rates and demographics are weak. Central promises have been shattered. Affordability remains elusive for millions. Costs for families, small businesses and the federal government are going up. And the uninsured aren't participating. In spite of a parade of delays and "fixes," Reeling from a bellwether special election loss, Democrats find themselves right back where they were in late 2013: Panicked over their poisonous signature law. Back then, they tried to blame "glitches" in the rollout. The problems that persist today cut to the heart of the law itself. How will Democrats spin Obamacare heading into November? They've devolved from vowing to proudly run on Obamacare, to focusing on making needed changes to the law, to...chaotic disagreement. Politico reports:
Democrats cant even agree whether Obamacare was the reason for their crushing loss in a Florida special election Tuesday. Now picture how their messaging plan for the health care law is shaping up for 2014. Republican lobbyist David Jollys victory over Democrat Alex Sink has many Democrats privately worried and publicly split about how to talk about Obamacare. A few Democrats are advocating a drastic rhetorical shift to the left, by criticizing their own party for not going far enough when it passed the law in 2010. Other Democrats plan to sharply criticize the Affordable Care Act when running for re-election. Many plan to stick to the simple message that Obamacare is flawed and needs to be fixed a tactic that plainly didnt work for Sink. Taken together, the Democratic Party is heading into an already tough election year divided instead of united on the very issue Republicans plan to make central to their campaigns.
Pro tip: Messaging isn't the problem. Among the Democrats with the most to lose in November is a trio of vulnerable southern Senators: Kay Hagan, Mary Landrieu and Mark Pryor. Hagan has literally fled Obamacare questions, Landrieu is on record saying that she is "100 percent" responsible for the law, which Mark Pryor called an "amazing success story." Rattled by how badly his "success story" is proceeding, Pryor is running an erratic campaign. He accidentally touted his opponent's website at a press conference on Medicare (which he repeatedly voted to cut in order to pay for Obamacare), and bizarrely accused his Republican foe of feeling "entitled" to his seat due to his military service, or something. That, coming from a career politician who used his family's prominent political name to get elected. Americans for Prosperity has launched a $700,000 television ad buy in Arkansas targeting Pryor for misleading his constituents about keeping their existing health coverage: Wanda: The moment my insurance was cancelled
Oh puhleeze. No they aren’t. I am not at all familiar with this site but I see it pop up here time and again. Whoever writes this stuff is in one heck of a bubble and loves to write some feel good BS.
And then we wonder ... how did we lose?
Speaker John Boehner is shirking his Constitutional Duty by not issuing Articles of Impeachment for B. Hussein Obama.
Removal from Office by the US Senate can ONLY be accomplished AFTER a perp. is Impeached by the US House.
The House is the Police, and the Senate is the Judge and Jury.
First the House must Impeach the POS.
Then the Senate determines if the Impeached POS should be removed from office.
Most FReepers fall in the all or nothing camp and only want a clear path to removal.
Our Constitution makes it very clear: Impeach first by the House, and then have the Senate decide on Removal.
The objective is to punish all those who violate their sacred oaths to defend the US Constitution.
A bi-weekly Impeachment of B. Hussein Obama would be needed to punish him for all of his Constitutional violations over the last 5 years, but I will be satisfied with just one Impeachment.
Obamas Removal from Office by the US Senate would be good for America, but Reids Senate has not yet demonstrated any interest in what is good for America.
Since the RINOs have control of the US House of Representatives in 2014, 2014 is the last year that we can be certain that Obama could be Impeached.
The RINOs assume that they will maintain control of the US House, but their usual desire to lose to Democrats is so strong, that their assumption may not be a valid one.
Impeach B. Hussein Soetoro-Obama in 2014, PERIOD.
Big republican majorities in both houses, for openers.
the problem isn't numbers...it's Boehner and McConnell.
Republicans need REAL CONSERVATIVE LEADERS !!
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid both look terrible. They are ill in mind and body and are not long for this world.
Another 2010 is coming, unless the Establishment manages to arrange to lose.
America is shifting more conservative and the Dems are going even more Left than ever. Let the chips fall where they may.
Hahaha... nice try.
Even if you did impeach the POS. Then what? How many people in congress has violated their sacred oaths to defend the US Constitution and the US against enemies foreign and domestic?
“The objective is to punish all those who violate their sacred oaths to defend the US Constitution.” Oh yea, 40% of the people voted for the POS. And how many voted for a RINO? More of the same.
George W. gave us the biggest welfare program to date. Was that a violation of the constitution. And he was a conservative Christian from that great state of TX. Were we gonna impeach him? Toast!!! We are toast.
It makes no difference what the elections bring in 2014, and no difference in 2016. Find a good conservative state to live in, that is your only hope. When the fun begins, hope that your state will be on the side of its people. The feds are not on the peoples side. They are on the governments side.
WELCOME TO FREE REPUBLIC!
Not often I get a reply from someone on their first day!
At FR it is all about crime and punishment.
The Federal Politicians in “both” political parties do the crime, and we receive the punishment.
Commie Obama has had the time of his life for the last 5 years “Fundamentally Changing the United States of America,” thanks in no small part to our sorry, loyal, cave-in, doormat Republicans In Name Only.
Follow Jim’s Rules, and enjoy Free Republic!
Cheers!
And thanks for the encouragement.
This is great, “The Federal Politicians in both political parties do the crime, and we receive the punishment.” So true.
Have fun!
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of folks.
“Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid both look terrible. They are ill in mind and body and are not long for this world.”
Kind of like the King of Rohan, while under the spell of the White Wizard in Lord of The Rings. Don’t know why that came to mind, but it seems applicable.
I would think something in this world would lift the veil from their eyes, yet it does not. Perhaps political reality will?
Start writing the Democrats, too. Tell them how FUBAR and disastrously un-affordable the so-called "Affordable Care Act" really is. That, along with much other Democrat Party supported legislation is choking this once great nation.
Trey Gowdy has the right idea too. Congress makes the laws. The Executive branch is to see to it those are implemented.
Process does matter. To thwart it, is to thwart the will of the people.
Since ObamaCare is being found so utterly unworkable, with exceptions and exclusions being handed out even from it's initial inception -- then that means some are above or beyond the law.
We are a nation of laws (this is an important concept!), not a nation of men who would rule over others, even if it be for "best of intentions".
It is time for Democrats to take a stand, a stand for their own country, their own nation, that nation which used to be a shining city on a hill -- and defy the likes of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.
God GOD can they (the Democrat Majority in the Senate) NOT see what Godless LIARS that pair is??? And those two are not the only Democrats that are real pieces of [unprintable]. If they can't see it -- then what in the sam billy are they doing in public office, if their judgement is so lacking?
I'd hate to think that every single Democrat is just like them.
Are they there for themselves, or for something more noble --- like self determination and the 'pursuit of happiness'?
The Constitution does not suggest that we can legislate our way to a Nirvana of perfect outcomes, where no one is ever at risk -- or is allowed to take a risk. Bankers -- if they risk too much -- should be allowed to lose their asses, just like anyone and everyone else. Bring back Glass-Steagall maybe? Break 'em up -- make them fly or DIE on their own dollar risk, but ensure laws are in place to force transparency, so that any who invest with those fly-boys can know the basic risks )if they do their homework).
If today's Democrats had their way -- the settlers who crossed the plains would have had their families broken up for child endangerment(!)
But today we are legislated down to what they shall be taught in schools, from a federal level -- when that is a local issue, and always had been, until the do-gooders took over and dumbed it all down.
So let's start asking them if they are for this nation, or not. Take a stand. Either you are for Harry Reid and the Nancy Pelosi types (those lying dirt-bags) or you are for America, even if one needs to look towards some nostalgia to "see" it.
There is no middle ground...and you (you Democrat Party scardy-pants sycophants) will be voted out of office, somewhat like when Republicans swept the House AND Senate during the Clinton years.
If the Presidency can be gained by those not Democrat also -- then payback SHOULD BE a real bitch!
Democrats have a new rallying cry thanks to Obama.
“Cancel your cable, cancel your internet, cancel your phone! You WILL get Obamacare.”
Also don’t pay yo rent..... To the evil white landlord Koch brother
Carville is a soulless apparatchik. He is pimping for Hillary Clinton's 2016 run.
Even Chris Mathews said the US Senate is GONE.
There is light at the end of the tunnel.
