Gun control bills introduced in the Minnesota Senate: two hearings Thursday
Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance ^ | 3-18-14 | GOCRA

On Thursday, a Senate committee will hear two bills -- six hours apart -- that would infringe on the rights of Minnesota gun owners.

Gun Confiscation Court Orders

Civil rights opponent Ron Latz, chairman of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee, introduced SF2639, a bill that would create de facto confiscation of firearms from persons accused of domestic violence. THE BILL WILL BE HEARD THURSDAY EVENING, March 20, at 6 p.m. in Room 15 of the Capitol.

While GOCRA has no love for wife-beaters, this bill goes far beyond protecting victims, and would impose a back-door theft of personal property through exorbitant fees.

Capitol Carry Traps Based on the flawed recommendations of lame duck Lieutenant Governor Prettner Solon's capitol safety advisory committee, and steamrolled by lame duck Representative Michael Paymar, SF2690 would impose additional red tape hoops to jump through, and "gotcha" felonies for permit holders visiting the State Capitol Complex. THE BILL WILL BE HEARD THURSDAY, March 20, at noon in Room 15 of the Capitol.

" de facto confiscation of firearms from persons accused of domestic violence."

And in MN, screaming at your roomate can get you 5th degree domestic assault charges.

I have a feeling all of the gun grabbing legislation is being directed by the WH because they know they have had a difficult time getting any traction with federal legislation so they are attacking state by state. They are probably hoping they can get as many wimpified states (that depend on federal funding to stay alive) as they can to join in the grand confiscation they have planned later. Probably safe to say that ubderhanded or implied threats have been made to the politicians in those states that funding will be cut if they don’t comply. Just more Incrementalism at work here; basically the same as advancement in military maneuvers; one of the simplest but most effective ways to overwhelm your enemies and takeover their territories.

No, they will not. That is not a flip answer, that is the cold hard truth. As I have said before in other related threads, there are only two kinds of people who advocate "gun control."

One type is the ignorant. They simply lack the facts regarding firearms ownership and use in the US. All they hear is what the media wants them to hear - several thousand dead every year etc. etc. What they don't hear about are the 2.5+ million (legal) defensive uses of firearms that prevent murders, rapes, and violent attacks. They don't hear that every place that has enacted strict "gun control" - from cities to states to entire countries - has experienced significant and long-standing rises in violent crime rates, including murders. They lack the facts because they only get their information from the MSM. They don't realize that when they advocate for more "gun control" what they are really advocating is tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of additional murders, rapes, and violent attacks. Unless you are psychotic, no-one wants to see that.

The second kind of person that advocates "gun control" is the fascist. Pure and simple, they want power and control over their fellow man. They've studied history, or are at least aware of it, and know that like any good dictator they need power to control their victims. When their victims are armed, they don't have that power over them. So they must first disarm their populace. There are over 50 million examples of this in the last 100 years or so. 50 million slaughtered by their own governments after having been forcibly disarmed by those governments.

The mistake we can absolutely not afford to make - lest our children and grandchildren curse our cowardice and ignorance - is to think that things like evil, fascism, dictators, etc. only happen in other times and other places. Look around, {expletives} are not confined to the history books. The US is special, but not magical. There is no reason whatsoever to believe fascists and wanna-be dictators exist only in other places. Don't be lulled into thinking they'll all cut their hair with a bowl and shave their mustache into a little postage stamp patch. Like all wanna-be dictators the power-hungry will use the words and means of the day to gain control little by little.

Sadly, we can see it in the US right now, today. Our freedoms and liberties are stomped on a little more every single day. Sure, occasionally we win one, but by and large we are losing. There are forces in the US right now actively trying to completely disarm us. They want to confiscate every weapon. They want to tell us what to eat, (food/diet standards) what to drive (MPG regulations), what we can and cannot say/promote and who we must serve. (gay agenda anyone?) They willingly abdicate their duties to gain the support of the very people they are supposed to be protecting us from. (illegal immigration)

In short, we are in deep xxxx and many don't even have a clue. The "progressives" liberals/socialists/fascists are running the farm. There are far too many people at all levels of government willing to trash our way of life, our freedoms and liberties. They don't care what damage is done, just so long as they get to run their little piece of it.

Not until we start killing some of them.

Does that sound harsh?

Well, it is. It is also what they will have their enforcers do to you should you dare to not comply with their desires.

Capitulate, or die. Those are the choices they give you, so why not return the favor?

Leave our Rights alone, or we will take steps to END you.

As it is, we faced some of these same bills last session and they were defeated in no small part to Andrew Rothman and crew. If you live in MN, and are in any way disaffected with the NRA, consider giving a few bucks to MNGOCRA. These are the guys that got us the carry permitting system where before there was no legal way for us to carry. They have since tried to get even the permitting process reduced with an eye on restoring REAL Constitutional carry.

This post in no way endorses or exhorts any illegal activity and is for discussion purposes only. And how sickening is it that in a “free” Country I feel I need to add that disclaimer?

I keep hoping we’ll just Balkanize when we collapse, rather than the Obamanation forcing us to remain together like dictator Lincoln did.

When the SHTF, there’ll be a weeding process that the unarmed/disarmed won’t survive. Even those of us who ARE armed won’t like it very much. It’ll be ugly. Food, water, guns and ammo will be the currency of continued existence.

Everybody needs to be getting right with their Maker. That and “prepping” is the only rational course.

Why don’t they confiscate the guy’s truck. It isn’t protected under the constitution.

Yep. Don’t forget that during this turmoil, we’ll probably be attacked from without as well.

China, the Middle East, or even Russia. They’d be stupid to not chose up sides or even carve out a piece for themselves.

They’d have to be careful though. Too much could cause us to re-coalesce and level a smack-down on them.

As much as I would hope for a different circumstance, I believe that we are being forced into exactly this.

The problem is, once "it" starts, all bets are off, and no one can predict the results, though it is certain to be a "Bad Thing" for all involved. Still, it appears to me that the powers-that-be believe that they can poke this hornets nest, control the stinging, and blame the hornets for the results. I don't believe that they'll get away with the blaming, but most assuredly they (and we) are certain to get stung...

Saying that that Day will be a “bad” day for pretty much everyone is an understatement.

Not allowing that Day to come may be worse. Like Dachau type “worse”.

We shouldn’t have allowed ourselves to be push as far as we have. Now it’s come to this.

Yup. But that is no excuse to leave it for our progeny to repair, is it? To whatever extent, "we" have allowed this situation to develop, so it seems appropriate that "we" solve the problem.

The solution, I fear, is likely to be heavily contested...

Yeah, I’ve given up on NRA. I will look into this organization for sure!

And though it sounds harsh, you are right. This is where we are headed.

I’m Life Member of the NRA and the GOA both. Need to re-up my MNGOCRA here soon. I also contribute, when funds allow, to the SAF and the JPFO.

Firearms are kinda my “thing”.

Almost all gun control is at the state level. And no, they will never stop trying.

I’m glad there are so many who are purchasing firearms. I’m not, not out of choice, I just don’t have the funds. I have a couple guns. One for home protection and one for hunting. My goal is to build up for something a little more “substantial.” Something like a UTS15. Would you recommend something like that? It looks like one hell of a weapon.

No. Not until they work the kinks out of the engineering. Check youtube for videos of that thing doing the amazing Jam-o-matic.

If you are looking for a “tactical” shotgun, it’s hard to beat a Remington 870. Options galore and relatively cheap.

Have my eye on a Benelli M2. Plan to run it for 3-gun instead of my old Browning A-5. No knocks against my Humpback, it just doesn’t have to tube capacity to keep up.

If you are looking for a mid-range firearm for “neighborhood” defense, an AK, SKS, or an AR are still to go-to guns. I’m partial to the AR and my next rifle build will be an AR in .308 trim. It’ll be kitted out for a bit more “reach” than your standard battle rifle. That’s just the Marine in me though... :-)

My initial thought was an AR-15, so I think you help me make up my mind.

Thanks!

For “in home” defense, get the 870. Less multi-wall penetration and excellent close up results.

If your budget can handle it, get both! :-)

“Right tool for the job...”
