In an insane abuse of power, the news editor for LEO Weekly, Joe Sonka, had the police called on him, and was threatened with arrest because Mitch McConnell was afraid that he would ask questions at a press conference.
According to the Courier-Journal:
The campaign called on the Louisville Metro Police to make sure that Sonka, who has been critical of McConnell in the past, from entering the conference room at the Hilton Garden Inn, on Crittenden Drive, where the event was held.
Sonka said he was originally told that he couldnt attend because there was limited space in the room. In fact, there were numerous empty chairs in the room.
Moments before the event, Jesse Benton, McConnells campaign manager, said that Sonka had been barred because other reporters had objected to Sonka asking questions. Benton refused to say who that reporter was.
This wasnt the first time McConnells staff tried to keep Sonka out of an event. On February 14, before a campaign appearance at a Louisville business, Sonka was asked to leave but was allowed to return by the businesses owner.
I think they were afraid I was going to ask him a question that he was going to have difficulty with, Sonka said in an interview. Benton said I could come in if I didnt ask any questions, then when I told him Id like to, he said hed get the police to put me under arrest.
Freedom of the press? Not so much in Mitch McConnells Kentucky. McConnell cant run on his record, so he is forced to try to strong arm the press in order to prevent voters from finding out the truth about their senator.

Term Limits is a better idea than mandatory retirement age.
Article said: Jesse Benton, McConnells campaign manager....
You said: Jesse Benton is the Son in law of Ron Paul.

Are you freakin’ kidding me? If that’s true, that explains why Rand Paul has endorsed Midge.
They can title it “What’s Mitch Afraid Of? His Own Record?”
What? You don’t want investigative journalism from any source? You sound like a Lamestream Media enabler. (since 2012). Sheesh!
Way to go, Yertle. Running scared.
The person responsible for Dr. Paul's campaign failures was Dr. Paul.
Looks like Jesse (Midge’s campaign mgr) Benton is married to Ron Paul’s granddaughter, Valeri Pyeatt Benton (they married in ‘08 or ‘09).
Jesse then worked for Rand Paul’s campaign (2010).
This explains the love fest between Randie Paul and Midge.
Here’s an interesting statement from this Benton clown....
Jesse Benton, campaign manager for Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), said that he was holding his nose while working for McConnell and thinking of the long-term best interests of Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), according to a recording of a phone conversation posted by the Economic Policy Journal, a libertarian-leaning website, on Thursday.
“Between you and me, I’m sorta holdin’ my nose for two years, cause what we’re doin’ here is gonna be a big benefit to Rand in 2016, so that’s the long vision,” Benton reportedly said, apparently referring to a possible presidential run by Paul.

(I know, it’s HuffPo, but it’s an interview with this guy and his *relationship* with the Pauls and Midgie.)
How's that for crass? I am certain that many Freepers could do a much better job than me.
Mr Bevin should already be printing up literature and doing a campaign ad with this as the topic.
If Mr McC can’t stand up to a reporter, we now know why he won’t stand up to reid.
