I burn wood exclusively. No furnace, other than my wood furnace. What is so difficult to understand. I cut and split wood in the spring season it over the summer and fall and burn all winter. Generally put up 10 cords and that feeds my furnace, my Dad’s stove and as an emergency supply for my son if he needs it. Fill with propane one per year for hot water heater, dryer and cooking.

Re your post 75, maybe you have some sort of wood-feeding device for your wood furnace. My stove is a plain Jotul stove that requires feeding of firewood sections many times a day and thus is not that conducive to feeding 24 hours a day.

Besides, I’m an OldPossum and not keen on doing such. Therefore, between Mrs. OldPossum and me, we run the stove only from 8:00 or 9:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night.

I say that with some trepidation that you might come back and say you’re 85 years old and have no problem with the labor involved. If so, I salute you!
