March 20, 2014 - The families of Chinese passengers aboard a missing Malaysia Airlines flight insisted that their loved ones could still be alive Thursday, as Beijing said it was following developments closely.

Australian officials said that two objects possibly related to the search had been spotted by satellite in the remote southern Indian Ocean.

But Wen Wancheng refused to accept the announcement meant he had lost his son, who was a passenger on the flight.

“My son is still alive. My son is still alive,” said the 63-year-old from Shandong province. “I don’t believe the news.”

There are 153 Chinese citizens on board flight MH370, whose relatives have been waiting for news at the Lido hotel in Beijing.

Zhao Chunzeng, who declined to identify his relative on board, said families were seeking a confirmed discovery.

“We are waiting, just waiting and we can’t respond to news until it is definitely confirmed,” Zhao said.

Asked if he felt that the Australian announcement had greater significance as it came from the prime minister, he said: “Maybe, but we will still have to wait and see.”

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said the government was paying “great attention” to the news from Australia.

“The Chinese side is ready to make relevant arrangements based on the latest updates,” he said in a statement, without elaborating.

SOUNDBITE 1 Unknown, relative of missing passenger (Mandarin):
“You are cheating us. You are cheating us relatives. You have been torturing us. You are torturing our will.”

SOUNDBITE 2 Unknown, relative of missing passenger (Mandarin):
“We are here to learn the truth. We can choose not to sleep, not to eat. We can choose to not receive your care. We want our relatives back. We don’t want our relatives to be sacrificed to a political fight.”

SOUNDBITE 3 Unknown, relative of of missing passenger (Mandarin):
“We don’t want to listen to anything he says, everyone stand up. You send someone who could answer our questions.”

SOUNDBITE 4 Unknown, representative from Malaysia Airlines (Mandarin):
“I will say one last thing to everyone about what we mentioned just now. The highest level of officials from Malaysia will arrive in Beijing tonight.”

The scale on that picture says the object is approximately 24 m long, or about 79 feet. The tail height is less than 65 feet, and it is clearly wider than a fuselage, so the only thing it could be is a large piece of wing. It raises two issues to me. First, if it is part of the missing 777, it is large enough to suggest the plane did not crash in an uncontrolled manner, but made a water landing - otherwise I would expect it to be in much smaller pieces. Am I off-base with that presumption? Why would a suicidal pilot fly all the way out into the Southern Ocean and then land it instead of just spiraling in? Second, what would a huge piece of wing be doing floating after 10 or 12 days? Presumably it is heavier than water. Are the fuel cells (by then full of nothing but air)so strong that they could stay intact and air-filled that long?

Way back in the 100s there was a discussion of what part of he plane was made with “honeycomb”. Your answer may be there ( wing is one part)

There was also about 174 a copy of comment made thru air network from a person who had hardcooy in hand identifying it as a wing

Hope this helps!

I am no expert, but do not necessarily pick apart findings = conclusion as many are.

General rule: anything can happen. It all depends on exactly what happened how things can shape up.

I wouldn’t put it past the plane to include large pieces even with a direct hit. Plunge in perfectly and the fuselage may stay together, as the weak wings tear off. Then the fuselage may disintegrate just after impact.

As to floating on and on, again, it could happen. Airplanes are made to be as LIGHT as possible. Thin aluminum with honeycomb composites. The airspace in some of those honeycomb panels could be enough to allow floating.

I will say, though - how do they know these pix from Aus sat weren’t whales?

“At this point I’m resigned to the fact we are all at the mercy of what the governments involved want us to know.”

BREAKING NEWS British satellite company Inmarsat tells the BBC there were very strong indications 10 days ago that the plane would be found either in the southern part of the Indian Ocean or in Central Asia, and not in the South China Sea or the Malacca Straits where Malaysian authorities continued to search.

3:13 pm
Malaysia has been criticised by British satellite company Inmarsat for the way it has handled the search operation.

The firm said that it had information 10 days ago that the plane had flown for at least another seven hours.

Speaking to the BBC, the company also said it knew on March 11 that the plane was likely to be in the southern Indian Ocean or central Asia, not the Malacca Strait or South China Sea.

Inmarsat has spoken out because of its fears that the search had been handled badly.

We are very lucky to have pilots, engineers, traffic controllers and other experts as part of FRamily. They were out in full force to help the rest of us last night (The number/letters are handles for air professional network is my understanding. )
Other posts in this area will help people understand. Definitely a thread for FR top archive

I was kidding around with someone the other day and said, “Obama hijacked that plane a week before Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse was supposed to come out with new information. He’s going to hide the plane until Arpaio releases the info, and then - surprise! They’ll find the plane.” I was just being sarcastic, of course. Obama would never lie to the public or manipulate the news media.

RummyChick many thanks for mentioning that “ULD” cargo.

IIRC hoosiemama’s #10 in the linked thread asked about it.

And the “ULD” cargo was the topic of the block of tweets that went missing...

I am an engineer myself. Just not someone specializing in aircraft structures, although I have touched on it with my former job. And history/technology is of huge interest to me, job or not.

Indeed our population here is so huge we are bound to have people in the know. I’ve been very interested in pilot viewpoints, even if it doesn’t fit my notions....

The other poster is right. Not a bad theory.

I’m still leaning toward massive accident, but your story isn’t so ridiculous as assuming it’s a Moslem conspiracy just because the pilot is Moslem. No other good reason it would be a terror hi-jacking in my mind. It’s not their MO, unless something went wrong to thwart Moslem plans. Although again, I expect chiming in by now maybe as part of their MO, even if it failed.

Last I heard the family took a powder the day prior to when the ill fated flight took off.

Looking at what little we know (or have been told) in context, the AU debries field looks a lot like a red herring “Oh look!; A Squirrel!” distraction.

One of the more interesting - and plausible theories as near as I can tell:

http://mh370shadow.com/post/79838944823/did-malaysian-airlines-370-disappear-using-sia68-sq68

I sensed an “Allah Achbwah” moment right away, and I don’t think I’ll be disappointed when the facts are finally discovered.

He could have dropped down to wave top level to avoid radar as soon as he cleared the Malasian coast (which is why he dropped off of military radar) then maneuvered under the NW bound flight and climbed up underneath it, so that when he got back into the radar (if there was any at that point) they would have seen only one “blip” and assumed it was the legitimate flight.

Unfortunately if the good guys (my hopes are with Mossad) don’t find out where it is before they torture the intel out of those 20 some stealth technology experts who were on board and make modifications to the 777 in order to cloak it, the next time we hear about it might involve a nuclear fireball over Israel (probably TelAviv) or a US target - most likely NYC.

It won’t take long for Muslims to torture what they want out of those Technicians.

They could fly it direct route accross the Atlantic away from normal flight paths or shipping lanes, drop down to skim the ocean on final approach then climb up to optimum detonation altitude (about 800 ft. IIRC) over the tower and with a lusty “Allahu-Awchbwah!” hit the trigger.

That airliner, IMHO, will soon be a stealth suicide nuclear cruise missile, if it hasn’t already been converted and loaded.

If NYC is picked as the target, I think it will be because the Moozies are enraged that NY not only wouldn’t let them build a Rabbat (Victory Mosque marking the site of another Islamic conquest) on or near the site, but replaced the WTC with the “Freedom Tower” as a symbol of defiance, and they can’t wait to take that down too.

Besides; there are a lot of Jews living there.
Target rich environment... Jihaddis love those.

Methinks NYC might not be a smart place to be hanging around over the next year or so.

Just like after the first WTC bomb failed to take the towers down, they’ll be back - this time with a nuke.
If that goes off - as well it might - it will leave a nasty mark.

Casualties would be in the multiple millions and the economic repercussions all over the world would be devastating.
Look what happened to the stock market right after 9/11/01 - and that will pale by comparison to what I’m sure they have planned for us the next time.

If you see all the NY Cabbies - most of whom are reportedly Muslims - go on strike and disappear and the enclaves empty out as the Somalis suddenly decide to go home on vacation to visit their families (”refugees”, right?) it might be a good time for New Yawkahz to get out of town for a while too.
Stay tuned....

I did already, thanks.

All you have to do is show yourself how Al foil floats in your sink. Get your kitchen foil and place a small sheet of it on the surface. Take a small piece and try to dip it in edge perpendicular. Now ball it up as best you can. You can’t easily make that foil sink.

Airfoil is very thin, and if the pieces are large enough, the surface area is good enough to help float these pieces. Barring interference by the ocean waves, other debris, animals, some things will stay on top.

Never mind the honeycomb parts inside the thin foil.

It’s a great place to follow the news. Lots of excellent researchers and knowledgable people in all areas. Brainstorming with many gifted people throwing out ideas, asking questions and not only do we not have to agree we also can do our own analysis ,change our minds and come to our own conclusions
