Miss. Anchor Says He's Sick Of LGBT News, Tells Activists To Go On 'Gaycation'
Talking Points Memo ^ | MARCH 27, 2014 | CAITLIN MACNEAL

Posted on 03/28/2014 6:54:03 AM PDT by Qbert

Mississippi news station WLOX-TV anchor Dave Elliott on Thursday said that there has been too much coverage of LGBT issues in the news recently, according to Romanesko.

"I'm all for the LGBT community's ongoing fight for equality. I support their fight in every way. But, it seems they've been in the news too much lately. Maybe they should take a short break. Go on gaycation,.. [sic] just for the weekend. Enjoy yourselves!" Elliott wrote on his Facebook page, according to a screenshot published by Romanesko.

WLOX-TV condemned Elliott's comments on the station's Facebook page.

"We are not happy at all with the post or any imagined "free publicity." Dave made this post initially on his personal Facebook page," the station wrote.

"[O]ur station is committed to covering news that happens in our community, and issues important to our viewers - that includes the LGBT community," the station said in an additional comment on its Facebook page.

Ping.
I think you recently mentioned an approaching backlash on this subject.

The harder they true to make it normal, that harder it is going to be for people to accept.

There’s a giant billboard on the main drag of my city here in WA state, where one guy looks like he’s about to playfully bite the ear of the guy he’s holding from behind. It’s promoting Obamacare for the homo set.

My 13 year old daughter looked up at it, shuddered, and got in the car. This after the relentless onslaught of ‘Gay is OK’.

I am tired of hearing community this, community that, black community, gay community, & all of the other communities. I thought progressives wanted one big happy community under a big one world tent. All they do is split us up into separate communities.

My community is a communion.

Maybe ten years ago I went to the library of the Annenberg School of Communications, a graduate school of the University of Pennsylvania (which is Ivy League). I was there on behalf of a global marketing client to find research on biological responses to visual stimuli.

The library had perhaps 150 current issues of media communications research journals on display, with several back issues behind each one in the racks. Most research journals put the table of contents on the front cover.

Guess what the great majority of every cover I scanned contained? One, two, or three articles on homosexuality, out of ten or twelve articles. Why gays are in the media, why gays are not in the media, how gays are depicted in the media, how media affects gays, why media should do more and better for gays, and on and on.

Neither a digital search, the card catalog or my eyeballing turned up any serious research on what actually happens to the heart rate, the pupils, or the brain waves during various types of media stimuli on a general population, or on any demographic at all, not even gays. This is the state of higher education and well-funded scientific research.

Go away and don’t come back. You are not loved, wanted or needed.

I see this phrase a lot...”privacy of their own bedroom”. As you alluded, it doesn’t stay in the bedroom. Widespread acceptance of this behavior is destroying the most stable, productive, revenue enhancing, security promoting, government reducing, security protecting force in our country or any country...I am speaking of the traditional family.

Thank you. You and I are in the minority here at FR. I used to have this as my tagline...

“Yes, as a matter of fact, what you do in the privacy of your bedroom IS my business.”

It would really piss off the liberals here. But the fact of the matter is; libertarians are as much to blame for the sorry state of affairs we now face as the democrats.

(See current tagline)

Oh boy, doesn’t this guy realize that their sexual behavior is nobody’s business? Of course, the only way homos identify themselves is by their private sexual behavior.

First they are not gay they are homosexuals.
Second, most Americans are sick and tired of 24/7 news coverage of all things homosexual....

Queers are a miniscule portion of the population. I don't get it, it's time for every decent person to tell these perverts to shut up.

“I’m all for the LGBT community’s ongoing fight for equality. I support their fight in every way....”

He has taken a public stand on this issue he fully supports Gay Marriage. He should be relived from his job or never be allowed to cover a story regarding gay issues.

True, but there are lots of gays from New Orleans who have summer places on the coast and there are some liberal areas like Ocean Springs there also. It's the most gay friendly area aside from Oxford.

You know, you are correct. I completely forgot about OS....very, well artsy for lack of a better term. I should have thought about the NO silly folks as I have a silly cousin who prides himself on being on the Mardi Gras parade route in Biloxi.

Which will prompt the “gays” to take even more offense. They just can NOT stop playing the one card to which they are addicted!
