This week brought news of Obamacare securing 7.1 million enrollees and the expected jubilation from the White House. “This law is doing what’s it’s supposed to do,” a buoyant Obama said in late-afternoon remarks in the White House Rose Garden. The veracity of these numbers is questionable, as many have pointed out. But predictably, the media is doing its best to paint a rosy picture of the success of Obamacare, sharing all of the “good news” of the enrollment numbers.
ABC News and the Washington Post piled on with a poll of their own, demonstrating how public opinion has shifted in a favorable direction coincident with the President’s announcement of the enrollment numbers. “Public support for the Affordable Care Act narrowly notched a new high in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll” they gleefully report. But a closer look at the poll suggests otherwise.
Their survey question asked, “Overall, do you support or oppose the federal law making changes to the health care system?” What specific federal law? No mention of the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare. And what changes specifically? Is the question about the current federal law that makes those changes (Obamacare) or is it about a desire for using the federal law to make further changes? Words mean things. How these questions are phrased leads to different interpretations and answers.

I will not comply.
Here is what upsets me so much as a Conservative. We act just like the LibTards.
Time and again there are so many outlets/individuals that try and kill the messenger. They rail against the “bad poll or rigged poll” which has one effect. It makes us feel better and keeps us in our place. How about Dick Morris? How about the unskewed poll nimrod? How about Karl Rove who had the “real numbers”? How about Rasmussen which has been terrible for 3-4 cycles now? The list goes on.
Is this particular poll “bad”? It may be, but odds are it’s probably not.
We too often engage in feel good CJs about a subject. Facts are facts whether we like them or not. If we are to “take back” America, it’s time to stop acting liberal. It’s time to accept even ugly facts. For it we don’t, we will sit around (yet again) and congratulate ourselves on the devastating defeat that “Obama” is clearly going to suffer in the next election.
Of course, we may just stay the course and believe the spin and not the facts and post election day bemoan the fact that it isn’t the America we knew or expected. Well maybe we should accept what America really is if we hope to have a chance at changing it.
We like to say that the two Parties are two sides of the same coin. That is true. But in many ways, Liberalism and Conservatism are just two sides of another coin.
Stop believing the pundits. All of them.
There is an episode of The Sopranos where Tony’s therapist tells him to “act as if”.
Was thinking about it a lot while watching the Clown Prince in the Rose Garden.
Obama says it so it must be true. Just like you can keep your doctor or keep your health plan.
This law is doing whats its supposed to do,
GOVERNMENT CONTROL
Could it be that they are just telling him what he wants to hear?
He can’t possibly be that stupid, can he?
Or he knows, and he is more evil that we already thought.
Stupid or evil.. geez...
No one in our family has signed up or will sign up.
Obama: “The debate is over. ACA is a proven success. 7 million happy patients served. Now lets fix our broken immigration system”
Don’t rule-out “both”.
