GOP Blows Chance To Nail Another ObamaCare Failure
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 04/07/2014 | IBD Staff

Health Care: Republicans pushed a bill that would let small businesses continue to offer high-deductible plans to employees, despite ObamaCare. Sounds like a good idea. So why did the leadership try to hide it?

The original plan for ObamaCare was to force every business with 50 or more employees to provide "affordable" coverage or pay a stiff fine, plus to sharply restrict the plans they could offer by, among other things, capping deductibles at $2,000 for workers.

The cap was little more than a stealth attempt by Democrats to wreck Health Savings Accounts, which trade off high deductibles for tax-free savings accounts that can be used to pay out-of-pocket health costs.

It’s not “blowing a chance” when it’s intentional.

The GOP = Socialism Lite.

Oh Ted Cruz!!! He ruined everything standing up there, fighting for the rights of law abiding Americans??

He was supposed to let Obamacare take effect and let the republicans win elections by default, or to not win elections, allowing the RINOs to continue enjoying C of C kickbacks, country club do nothing lives.

Obamacare was supposed to implode It was a great Republican scheme.

They ARE more dangerous than Obama

Rush said something to this effect...

“Like that radical Republican Abe Lincoln once said....The best way to revoke a bad law is to enforce it strictly”.

Rush and Abe are right. GOPe working WITH Dims/0bama, yet again.

GOP -> Give 0bama Power

If this was so fantastic, John Bonehead, why’d ya do your vote in secrecy? TRAITOR!

There is so much money to be skimmed off obamacare that the r’s don’t want to end it they simply want to run it, for the party that runs it get’s the biggest slice of the skim.

I read the whole editorial, his point is that the GOP should have held out on this till Obama publicly admitted that part of Obamacare was causing pain and made things worse.

On the other side the Chamber of Commerce is giving Boehner, Cantor and Ryan orders to fix stuff like this NOW!

They don’t want to wait (they want immigration too)

The way I read this, the editorial is happy with the change but unhappy with the execution.

Am I missing something?

Did Ted Cruz support the change when it was sent to the Senate?

There is no fix for any of this stuff in Washington. The fix must come from the states.

I find it odd so many still believe it would be a plus for the Republicans to take the Senate. Why?

Correct. Republicans are trying to rescue Health Savings Accounts which Obamacare will utterly destroy. The problem is the Repubs are not hammering Obama with this.

I "love" my HSA. Paying medical expenses with pre-tax income has saved me thousands of dollars. The democrats hate that.

Ted Cruz has, does, and continues to persuade, vote for, and advocate the complete repeal of Obamacare.

What ever change or nuance anyone talks about, regarding this horrible legislation, Ted Cruz has been against.

Exactly. The beltway GOP have no intention of ever repealing obamacare “root and branch”. They won’t even vigorously engage obama on it now. There is no evidence the GOP will fight as hard for repeal as the Dems did to ram it through.

The base is being played with these repeal show votes and sadly many are buying it. If the time ever comes to repeal the GOP will move the goal posts on the debate like they always do. They simply don’t care about those being assaulted by obamacare because of all the money to be made selling Main Street down the river.

RE :”I find it odd so many still believe it would be a plus for the Republicans to take the Senate. Why? “

Considering what happened when they took the house 2011 its easy to imagine.

More infighting and finger pointing in GOP.

More scapegoating and demonizing of GOP congress by Obama.

Starting 2011 Obama and Dems called it the GOP congress so they would be tagged with its failures more than Obama and Dems would.

Absolutely YES to HSA! The GOPe is totally worthless. They cannot defend the constitution nor the conservatives especially. Dump Obamacare 100%.

Did anyone see Bonehead Boehner on Megan Kelly last night? I was sickened by his answers, dodging, apologizing and not defending this great Republic. He was arrogant especially when Megan asked him about some GOP NOT wanting him for majority leader. “I’ve heard that before. No one wants answers to IRS, Benghazi and Fast and Furious more than me”.

THAT interview sums him up IMHO. Total BARF Alert.

Rush is right...again. Agreed. GOP are such traitors. Wherever you look. Issa been fiddling for years now. Boner has been letting KlownKare go wherever the Klown wants to take it. As others have pointed out there is just too much potential for money and power for the GOP not to want a cut.

Indeed. Our two party system works this way: The Democrats, being bolder, rob the bank. The Republicans drive the getaway car, and both of them laugh at all the voters who they robbed so easily.
