Now if a bird lands on a power line and you throw the bird a line connected to the ground, the bird gets zapped. Unless the line the bird is standing on is insulated.

I don’t think most high tension lines are. It would be quite expensive.

I’m not positive about this, but I think that it’s very difficult to insulate very high voltages.
