Tense Video: Feds Taser Pro-Nevada Rancher Protester During Clash
The Blaze ^ | April 10, 2014 | Becket Adams

The standoff between a Nevada rancher and the U.S. government escalated Wednesday when protesters confronted federal agents tasked with the chore of rounding up approximately 900 “trespass cattle.”

The confrontation, captured on video, resulted in one protester, the rancher’s son, being hit with a stun gun while another, the rancher’s daughter, was pushed to the ground. One woman said federal officials struck her with their vehicle.

“You have no right to be here!” a female protester shouted at agents.

One of agents warned the demonstrators to back up or they would get bitten by their K9 unit.

“Don’t threaten a woman!” another protester shouted back.

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management and U.S. National Park Service confirmed in a statement that one protester was hit with a stun gun, adding that the action only occurred after a demonstrator attempted to block federal agents with an all-terrain vehicle.

“A BLM truck driven by a non-law enforcement civilian employee assisting with gather operations was struck by a protester on an ATV, and the truck’s exit from the area was blocked by a group of individuals who gathered around the vehicle,” the agencies said in a statement.

The government more or less “legally” owns anything they say they own at any time for any reason.

In this case they didn’t used to own the rights to it. Plus the family was willing to pay, just not to a corrupt organization.

Read post 32.

No government entity is kicking us my off our land - because I own it. A lot of people believe that these guys owned the land, that it had been in their family for generations when that is simply not true. They do not own it and never did. People need to comprehend that before they get all wound up about it.

Pay the rent and there would not be any problem. Bundys created the problem when they stopped paying rent in 1993.

I wonder if that is what Andrew Jackson told the Indians?

That argument will go nowhere.

Bundys never owned the land in question. The US government has legal title on the land. There is no reason for our government to collect rent on land they own when people use it, that’s the least we citizens can expect when they are in debt 15 trillion dollars.

Bundys paid rent but stopped in 1993. Why? Looks like it was a dumb move to me. Others pay rent and are not where Bundys find themselves.

The sheriff of this county is apparently balless.

County Judge, Governor and State Police, too.

I wonder how many of the good people spouting off on here know that many-MANY ranches consist of leased land in the west.

Prime example..the Babbit ranch near Flagstaff AZ. They hold some 240 thousand acres privately, just under half of the 700 thousand it encompases.

“NO WAY would our people or Eric Holder’s justice department EVER let the NSA get away with a scandal or something bad against this country.”

Live in a fantasy world much? Really? Eric Holder? You put much faith in such? Bet the next thing will be that you think Lerner is being set up. Naw, they aint doing anything wrong now are they?

Don’t think for a second that there are not Americans out there who will do the dirty work to take away our rights. Those brown shirts in the video are a classic example. I wonder how they sleep at night. Listen carefully and you will hear someone say their license plates are from Oregon. Feds bringing in outsiders because the local police cant be trusted to stand up to their neighbors?

"exploit the land using hydraulic fracturing techniques that inject toxic chemicals into groundwater supplies (and have been linked to earthquakes)".

I never thought I would read this type of idiotic Gia worshiping propaganda here on FR.

“The governor ... who has spoken out against the federal government’s attack on the citizens of Nevada ... should consider calling up the National Guard to protect Nevadans.”

He better hurry as I read several hundred armed militia from 3-4 states are heading for that ranch.

In fact I would bet that the Nevada staters could run these govt goons out if the Governor just ordered them to.

I think you meant to say that there is no reason the our government should not collect rent on land they own when people use it.

I agree that the Bundys brought this on themselves. They are using publicly owned land yet they probably wouldn't be too thrilled if someone else grazed a big herd of cattle on the same land. Plus Bundy doesn't recognize the laws of the United States. Let's see how far he gets with that. And he's calling for a war to support his personal interest.

There is no reason the Feds should not sell the most of the land they have in Nev.

What would the rancher say, if several other ranchers also attempted to graze cattle on “his” land? Other posters argue that the federal government is not the owner of the land. They may be right — I don’t know. However, neither does the rancher own the land. If no one “owns” the land, and no one controls who can graze on it, the land is effectively a “commons”. As in the cautionary tale taught to every first-year economics student: the “Tragedy of the Commons”. If there is no control over grazing rights, the land is soon destroyed for everyone.

"The government does own the land"

Most of the BLM land has legal encumbrances on it (like must lease for grazing).
