UKRAINE IS UNITED: President Turchynov’s address to the people of Ukraine
Euromaidan PR ^ | April 13, 2014 | Acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov

Address of the Acting President of Ukraine, Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov to the People of Ukraine

Dear fellow citizens!

Today is a great Christian holiday — the day of our Lord’s entry into Jerusalem. When he entered the city, all greeted him with “Hosannas” and threw clothing and palm branches under his feet. And in a few days, these same people demanded his crucifixion.

Unfortunately, today this celebration is marred by aggression and blood. One day ago, coordinated terrorist troops of the Russian Federation seized control of police and other administrative buildings in several cities of the Donetsk Oblast.

This event was especially dangerous in the city of Slovyansk, where professionally trained criminals dressed in Russian camouflage and armed with Russian automatic weapons did their work.

This morning they fired automatic weapons on the column of law enforcement units that were responsible for defending citizens on this festive Sunday. These criminals let out a barrage of fire while hiding behind a living shield of local residents, who had been deceived by Russian propaganda.

During this operation, the captain of the special Alpha unit of Interior Services, Hennadiy Bilichenko, was killed. The commander of the Alpha unit Colonel Kuznetsov and colonel Kuksa of the Security Services were seriously injured. Also injured was Selikhov, an employee of Interior Services.

The blood of Ukrainian heroes was shed for our land, for our one and only, sovereign, indivisible Ukraine.

Blood was shed in a war conducted against Ukraine by the Russian Federation. The aggressor does not stop and continues to organize unrest in the East of our country.

This is not a war between Ukrainians. This is an artificially created confrontation designed to weaken and destroy Ukraine itself. Eventually, however, it will weaken our enemies. Russia today is condemned by the entire civilized world. We have done everything to avoid casualties, but we are prepared to resist all attempts at invasion, destabilization, and armed terrorist attacks.

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has decided to launch a large-scale anti-terrorist operation jointly with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We will not allow Russia to repeat the Crimean scenario in the eastern regions of Ukraine.

Those who have not fired on our security forces and who agree to put down their arms and vacate administrative buildings by Monday morning, will be amnestied. I have signed a decree to give guarantees against the implementation of appropriate punishment for past actions.

We are ready to consider granting significant empowerment to the regions and to implement broad reforms for greater local self-government as well as the renewal of local government.

However, anyone who engages in armed struggle against our country in support of the aggressors will not escape punishment and responsibility.

I appeal to all fellow citizens in the East of our country. Do not become tools in a cynical and foreign war against your own country. Do not support those who wish to destroy peace and tranquility and who are thrusting your region into the abyss of economic catastrophe, the abyss of civil conflict.

I appeal to those who want to protect Ukraine. It is essential not to destabilize the situation in Ukraine and not to collaborate with the enemy and his agents, whose sole purpose is to disrupt the elections, to overthrow the government, and to create chaos and lawlessness.

I appeal to every Ukrainian. In the face of foreign aggression, we must unite. We must all do everything possible so that we put an end to the panic and stop dragging society into civil conflict. Only together, certain of each other’s support, will we overcome all our current problems. I believe that will happen.

May God bless Ukraine and each one of us.

Sounds like he has conceded the Crimea once and for all. Perhaps I misunderstand and/or the translation if not accurate.

I love the Christian underpinnings of his argument.

I think Russia is uniting Europe against Putin.

I think America has overthrown an elected leader again. It’s been working out so well, lets keep doing it.

There is a reason why Eastern Ukrainians speak Russian.

Yeah. Because Russia occupied that area for about 300 years, suppressed the language and culture and brought in ethnic Russians when they starved and deported the Ukrainians living there.

Russia will roll in and take the east and south of Ukraine...simply no contest against the pitiful Ukraine army.

Western Ukraine will implode and become nothing but a hopeless basket case surviving on handouts from the US taxpayers.

Russia will warn against the western part of Ukraine joining EU or allowing any foreign forces to be placed on their soil.... they will comply.

If EU gives Russia a hard time they will pay through the nose for less gas than they need to survive. The gas ration will be cut but the income for Russia will increase. This is what happens when you let enviroweenies get you into such a dependent state.

Of course, it is possible that an incompetent like Obama will do something stupid. If he does, Russia and China will retaliate by sinking the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Then we will all be dirt poor and pitiful :-( We are not in good shape financially. OR it could mean WW3

These are the things that will happen..they are not what I wish for. I wish we had stayed out of Ukraine’s affairs. None of this would be happening.

So allowing Eastern Ukrainians the vote on separating from Ukraine should be a shoe in to unite Ukraine. We stand for Democracy, lets show our support.

Yeah the time to have stayed out of Ukrainian affairs was when we talked them into surrendering the 3 rd largest nuclear arsenal on the planet based on OUR guarantees.

They were/are too unstable to have a large portion of the old USSR’s nuclear arsenal. That is why we wanted them out of Ukraine.

We had the option of sending election observers to Crimea. The US decided they didn’t have the right to hold elections and so we didn’t send observers.

Yeah, because the referendum was so wonderful. The “Prime Minister,” by the way, was a member of a fringe party with only 3 members. He became PM by walking into the Crimean Rada followed by guys carrying machine guns and grenade launchers, and then having a “vote,” and miraculously getting ‘yea’ votes from members of the rada who were not even present. Then the vote itself, which took place under the watchful gaze of Russia’s SS, with people getting carried off and beaten, one or two people’s bodies being found tortured and executed out in the forest, was accomplished through child voting, pre-filled in ballots, and total control of the media.

Yeah that’s democracy Russia style!

I think Stalin murdered 10 million Ukrainians during holmodor.

I don’t think Putin will find the world receptive to this latest expansion. His tyranny is doomed.

Russians can leave Ukraine and go back to mother Russia. No one is forcing them to stay.

There is a reason why Eastern Ukrainians speak Russian.

Maybe because Eastern Ukrainians were not allowed to speak their own language under the Czar. And the commies imported lots of Russians speakers

This whole thing is probably a Russian false flag operation.
