I have absolutely no doubt about the numbers.
I once stumbled across a Chinese student’s blog on the web. He posted dozens of photos of his visit in India.
Now, I realize that China still isn’t the most developed nation on earth, but what took me aback was this guy’s surprise and outrage over the bad public hygiene—he spoke as a Westerner, from a position of Western standards. He was *really* outraged and surprised this happened.
He was astonished that the “sacred” Ganges had piles of human defecation covering the riverbanks, the degree of public nudity during the act, and photos showed bodies (BODIES!) floating down the (sacred?) Ganges. Yeah, bodies.
Nobody bothered to retrieve them, let alone notice them.
And the photos of the “piles” were astonishing. It showed India as a helluva backward country, and it was SHAMEFUL. Even our medieval...no, DARK AGE ancestors didn’t live like this. And India can launch satellites...can you believe it?
I may scrounge up the link.
Sauron, lately, of Mordor (where we dig slit trenches, at the very least).
This Public Service Announcement brought to you by the Morder Visitors Bureau. Come visit Mordor. Bring the family!
Here's the link: Shameful and Lazy!
I came across that blog as well. Very disturbing images. I am amazed that a Black Death type epidemic hasn’t broke out in that part of the world yet.
