The city of Irwindale is suing the maker of Sriracha hot sauce and last week the Los Angeles suburb tentatively voted to declare the bottling plant a public nuisance.

Meantime, though, Huy Fong Foods has received offers to relocate its $40 million plant to Los Angeles, other California cities, Philadelphia and 11 states, including Texas and Ohio.

”Thefirst time I tasted Sriracha was about 20 years ago in a Vietnamese restaurant. I've been hooked ever since.”

I thought I liked the stuff, but I let a coworker sample some and he fell in love. I gave him a new 17oz. bottle. He used it in two weeks.

I can remember vividly the smell of the Hills Bros coffee plant every time while crossing the Bay Bridge.

Good question

El Paso Or San Antonio would seem a natural fit for them

Give loudmouth bullies what they want, and they’re not happy. The company has agreed to solve the problem by considering relocating. Oops - that’s NOT the solution the city wanted.

"I move to declare the city of Irwindale to be a national nuisance and as such, it should be relocated to another corner of the world."

It already is another corner of the world.

Thanks! There’s always a “hack” for “secret recipes” — and they often turn out better than the original — probably because I’m going to use better quality ingredients.

I read once where there are only two foods that can’t be duplicated — dried pasta and cheetos because it takes industrial ovens to make them.

Actually, fortune cookies are totally foreign in China and unlike the immigrants never originated there.

An old friend, a Special Forces veteran of campaigns in Vietnam and Laos, loves most Asian hot sauce. He doesn’t get around much due to arthritis and numerous heart surgeries, including several stents. But his eyes lit up a couple of years ago when I brought him a variety of sauces, homemade and this brand. He finished off a couple of jars and the big squeeze bottle in a month.

What I remember from growing up in neighboring Baldwin Park was the sound of top fuel dragsters coming off the line and the smell of burning rubber from the drag strip at Irwindale Speedway.

Home made recipes will not have the preservatives and Xanthan Gum (whatever that is) that the companies must use to preserve their products for a long shelf life...................
