I’ve had months of months of hearing about this from my sister. There are lots of other things that ought to break the BLM, and even break them harder even with the DC libs doubling down on taking their back.

Things are getting crazy. These BLM guys are just practicing. Outraging and purposely trying to upset the locals. Trying to show folks who’s boss.

Sarah Beckwith contends they are strays descended from rodeo horses from four decades ago.

So more is known about the origins of specific wild horses than.. well.

Hmmm.

These are the kind of people that make government something freedom-loving people want to overthrow more than anything else.

How did this continent survive before the Spaniards brought horses to it? Can we survive without them, or with only the number that the wild range acreage available can support? And what will have to give way, so that every wild horse born will be able to live to a ripe, old horse age? Judging by my experience with farm work horses some 50 to 60 years ago, that may be about 30 years. Members of the Wild Horse Old-timers Association (WHOA) may be able to provide a more accurate estimate.

I own three horses, including a BLM mustang pony. However, I would much rather see feral horses shot or shipped to Canada for slaughter - since we don't seem to be able to open a slaughterhouse for horses in the USA - than see them competing with cattle and sheep for grazing. At a guess, I'd say about 75% of the horse people I know also support slaughtering horses for food.

My little BLM guy, who is likely to live out his days being ridden 5-6 times a year whether he needs it or not. The white mark on his neck is the freeze brand. He gets scared riding in an arena, but is quite happy to go out on a trail with the big horses:

““How long does a horse have to live wild and free before it’s considered wild?” she asked.”

Yes, ‘n’ how many years can some horses exist
Before they’re allowed to be free?

Yes, ‘n’ how many deaths will it take till we know
That too many horses have died?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

(That was a well-phrased question — profound even. I thought it deserved a little recognition; so I stole some lines, and modified them a bit.)

***Though wild horses, which have roamed throughout the American West for hundreds of years, ***

Feral horses. Their ancestors, brought in by the Spanish escaped when the Pueblos revolted in 1680.

Are the horses NOT qualified because they didn’t or couldn’t fill out the forms properly?
With the various Fed agencies, filling out the form seems to be of critical important.
Just curious.

Where is PETA?
Where is the Humane Society?
Where is the Sierra Club?
Where is the Society for the protection of cruelty to animals?
Where is Hoolywod who have made millions from the movies they have made about Wild Horses?
Where are the people that hug horses when not hugging trees?

When Feudal Lord Reid of the US Bureau of Feudal Land Management tried to compensate for his senility and impotence by killing the last private herd of cattle in Clark County, Nevada all the doormat Republican Leadership in Congress did was their usual nothing.

Now feudal Lord Reid has invaded Canada to kill off the last of the Wild Horses, and ball once again is in the proverbial court of our sorry, cave-in, doormat Republican Leadership in Congress.

Impotent and senile Reid appears to be able to do whatever the doormat republican Leaders allow him to do.

BTW, has anyone noticed that Canada is not yet part of the good ol’ USA?

Maybe Obama includes Canada as one of his 57 States.

I want to point out the article is a bit of yellow journalism, taking advantage of the current "mood."

According to recent reports, agents herded a large group of wild horses in the state before ceding control of the majestic animals to state authorities. At that point, Wyoming officials sold them off to a slaughterhouse in Canada.

a little follow-up from Fox:
The BLM bans wild horses from being sold for slaughter. Anybody who adopts a wild horse from the BLM must agree to provide it a home.

The horses in the Bighorn Basin’s sagebrush hills descended from stray rodeo horses owned by Andy Gifford, a rancher and rodeo livestock contractor, in the 1970s, BLM spokeswoman Sarah Beckwith said.

Gifford had claimed the horses as his but never rounded them up before he died in 2009. That, plus the fact that the horses never interbred with wild horses, officially classified them as strays.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/04/20/feds-draw-criticism-for-selling-wyoming-horses-for-slaughter/

now, I’m going to ask the obvious question - how does the BLM know these horses didn’t interbreed with ‘wild horses’?
