I have been warning parents about a predictable change in their children for decades.

My warning went/goes like this: “On the 12th year, 364th day of your child’s life. They will go to sleep as a loved child, who loved its parents.

During the night the devil replaced that wonderful child with a teenager demon, whose main purpose in life was to make life miserable for the parents and siblings for the next 7 years.

Then, I told them, parents are not doing their job with that teen, unless they hear several times a day that they are the worst parents in the world, and no parents of their friends are as dumb and as mean as they are.

Keeping loving them and saying no. When they turn 20 something, the devil will start leaving the child alone.

Then, you are glad that you didn’t kill them or throw them out of your house. Your bad teen is gone, and a good adult has replaced that horrible teen creature.

We can’t believe how many parents years later after surviving their teenagers have thanked us for that simple warning and advise.
