Man, the 12 minute speech Sarah Palin gave to the NRA convention is awful. It's just witless, red-meat blathering, delivered in that nasal whine of hers that makes it sound like she's chewing wads of tinfoil. For people who like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing they like.
Fast-forward in the video to the 6:30 mark, though, and listen to what she says about terrorists. It's part of a long harangue about lily-livered liberals, delivered in such a way that makes Archie Bunker sound like Cicero. Money quote:
"Oh, but you can't offend them, can't make them feel uncomfortable, not even a smidgen. Well, if I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists."OK, stop. Not only is this woman, putatively a Christian, praising torture, but she is comparing it to a holy sacrament of the Christian faith. It's disgusting--but even more disgusting, those NRA members, many of whom are no doubt Christians, cheered wildly for her....
Palin and all those who cheered her sacrilegious jibe ought to be ashamed of themselves. For us Christians, baptism is the entry into new life. Palin invoked it to celebrate torture. Even if you don't believe that waterboarding is torture, surely you agree that it should not be compared to baptism, and that such a comparison should be laughed at. What does it say about the character of a person that they could make that joking comparison, and that so many people would cheer for it. Nothing good--and nothing that does honor to the cause of Jesus Christ.
If I thought that kind of hateful declaration and abuse of the Christian religion was what conservatism stood for, I wouldn't be able to call myself a conservative...

I think she’s among the most honest and forthright reps in the public eye today. She’s the sole voice that understands what’s at stake for Western civ v. Islam. I’d unequivocally trust her judgement and capabilities as President and to pick the best WH team since RR.

The word “baptism” has meaning other than the Christian meaning. Anyone ever heard the term “baptism by fire”, meaning someone is introduced into some reality by the most emphatic of experiences.
Baptism of a terrorist could be letting them know they are the worst sort of criminal and will not be treated with kid gloves. They are engaged in a war against our society and all the legal niceties should not apply.
So is this a ‘religious thread’ or a ‘political thread’? Got to know the environment before I can comment.

Making them sit in a hot, brightly lit room for hours on end is not torture.
Sleep depravation is not torture.

For goodness sake, Sarah should not be under a magnifying glass every time she appears on camera or before the public. She has done so much to enliven the conservatives. She is the one that caught our attention and gave me hope God had sent us a able leader. So of course, the enemy attacks her ruthlessly and constantly.
True conservatives need an honest voice (however much we may not enjoy her tone of voice), it IS what she says and stands for that is important.
Let US WAKE UP AND GET OUR HEAD ON STRAIGHT. SARAH IS OUR BEST POSSIBILITY WITH PERHAPS TED CRUZ, DR. BEN COCHREN, RAND PAUL AND a couple of others, WE NEED TO SUPPORT THEM ALL as best WE POSSIBLY CAN..
The one thing that stands out is liberals stand together, no matter what ... and conversely Conservatives/republicans can not seem to agree on anything. We eat our own and squabble over too many issues to ever make any progress in returning America to its Constitution and former values that made America GREAT!

Is water-boarding the same as getting fully wet or getting sprinkled with water? I have seen babies get sprinkled that reacted like they were being tortured.
Who is to define torture....mine is different than yours and other freepers have other ideas as to what it is...Stupid remarks about what a word means and freedom of speech goes out the window...we all have to just shut up cause someone might be offended.....baptism may be a sacrament in some cases but not religious in other cases...lets all get our big girl and boy pants on and stop thinking everyone has a right to not be offended. I don’t remember reading that Jesus was offended by those that didn’t like what he said...he spoke his words and moved on...Everyone is responsible for what offends them. You choose to be offended....and everyone else doesn’t care if your choice to be offended is your right to shut them up..
