Illinois continues to make its case for “Worst State”
Washington Post ^ | May 1, 2014

Illinois must really stink.

Half -- yes, HALF -- of Illinois residents say they'd move out of the state if they could. Trailing just slightly behind is Connecticut -- the Fix's home state! -- with 49 percent of its residents saying they would leave if they could. In a surprise to absolutely no one, Texas -- along with places like Hawaii and Montana -- is where residents were least likely to say they would move if they could. (The Fix in-laws are Texans and we can assure you almost no one in Texas willingly leaves there; there's a reason this bumper sticker doesn't exist for Connecticut.)

Illinois is on a real streak of late -- and not the good kind. Gallup data shows that just 25 percent of Illinois residents said it was the best state to live in -- by far the lowest of any of the 50 states. And, just 28 percent of Illinoisans said they have a "great deal" or a "fair amount" of trust in state government, again the lowest in Gallup data. In 2012, a report out of the University of Illinois - Chicago said the state was the 3rd most corrupt in the country, adding: "Since 1970, four Illinois governors have been convicted of corruption. Yet only seven men have held this office in this time, meaning more than half of the state’s governors have been convicted in the past forty-two years."

Sad, it was a great state when I lived there as a child.

I left, and never looked back. My biggest regret is not leaving earlier. I was too stupid to know better.

And it’s especially sad that Illinois is where the great President Ronald Reagan was born, raised and graduated from college.

Oregon stinks too....it has become a welfare manure pile. Oregon democrats have made sure that ANYONE who comes here can get on assistance immediately, including single illegal males. That is why they all come here to live and won’t leave. There is literally pissing and crapping going on in fields and along the streets. Garbage is thrown everywhere and people are living in laundromats, bushes and vacant houses.
Democrats in Oregon have to make sure that their voting base is happy and that now has become the majority.....those on assistance from the state, those working for the state and city, and the cuckoo liberals.
The great state of Oregon has become a CRAP HOLE and I won’t even go into the fact that it has become Mexican mafia haven.
Everything democrats have touched in this state has turned to sh@t.
I pray that we can begin to vote them out in the next election, but it won’t be easy.

Moved out of Ill. in Oct. 2013. Children are leaving shortly. Too bad, the rural areas are full of good people. State is run by crook county.

One year I drove through Illinois, from Paducah KY to Beloit WI & back. It consists of the most beautiful farm country I have ever seen.

But Illinois isn’t the only state with messed up government due to one overlarge liberal city. Too bad, I did enjoy the trip.

Darn Connecticut is second? Come on Connecticut, you can do better... just raise the income and sales taxes and regulations on businesses.

Or you can imitate Texas by throwing Malloy and Dems out and try the Republicans. OK, Connecticut Republicans might not be the same as Texas Republicans, but try it...you might like it.

I moved from Illinois to Hawaii in 1986. I know you, Illinois, and you’re no Hawaii
