I’ve known her for years. I was trying to avoid saying that she’s just not too bright. You know the sort: sweet but dumb.
There already is a single-payer system for some people:It’s called the VA.And it’s awful.

Anyway, the point I was trying to convey was that at the time, five years ago, I was working for an enormous ongoing research effort that came up with some numbers that just blew up Obamacare. We know each other socially and I brought this to her attention, but she absolutely wasn’t interested in hearing or seeing these data. In the first place, she was working for NPR at the time and they wouldn’t have wanted to hear that information. In the second she is just a happy-go-lucky liberal who operates on the basis of emotion, not logic. Not a smart woman in any practical sense. Some people just erect a wall against things they don’t want to hear.
Yes, I knew people like that. I don’t associate with stupid people any more than I have to, so being an introvert anyway, I now tend to keep my own company and my own counsel.
