For his undying loyalty to the GOP-E & DEMs plight since the mid 1990’s even if he left congress he would be well rewarded with lobbying or other corporate positions. Boehner is the man behind the ouster of Newt as S.O.H. and the handing over control of the party to the GOP-E. He was Teddy K and now Reid’s Useful Idiot.

The problem here is that Boehner isn't really just waxing philosophical about stepping down. He's threatening to, believing that it will strengthen his position as Speaker.

The guy looks in the mirror every day and sees someone he believes is completely indispensable to holding the GOP Caucus together, and assumes everyone else (at least in the GOP caucus) knows it. This probably has more to do with Boehner pushing the caucus towards immigration reform than any alleged "health issues" he may/may not be having.

IOW, what we're seeing is him trying to pull this:

Boehner stepping down next term will not accomplish what we want.

Boehner has shown a recent tendency to ignore the Hastert rule and has again sided with democrats to pass legislation.

He has also promised that the House will pass amnesty and send it on to the Senate THIS TERM.

When would that be? It is possible that he’ll betray his own party and do it before this election and throw the House to Nancy Pelosi. That is less likely.

He’ll do it during the lame duck session after the mid-terms in November. He and the democrats will quickly pass it in the House. Then it will be quickly passed to the Senate, and Reid will use another expansion of the nuclear option if he has to, but I suspect the rinos there have numbers enough to prevent a filibuster.

We need to replace Boehner prior to November of this year.
