I got me enough money for a new truck last year.

Well actually I didn’t have all the money, I only had about half, which would get me a good used truck.

But I don’t care. I know my budget only allows me to buy a used Chevy pickup. But I want a brand new truck. Not a Chevy either. I want a Mercedes. I demand Mercedes build me a truck and price it at the amount that I have. I demand!

I anticipate the advent of fully automated fast food restaurants with gloating pleasure. No longer will I wonder if my food was dropped on the floor, spat upon or swiped across an armpit. Instead of attempting to make the third world immigrant behind the counter understand my order, I will simply press a few icons on a touch screen to indicate exactly how I want my food to be prepared by an automated process unfouled by subliterate, truculent, cretins.

Maybe customers should strike for BIGGER BURGERS at LOWER COST.

I hope they attain their goal. Seriously. I can’t wait for it.

Or become a trained chef and work for the upper class.

“””Fire them all.””””

When I ran a retail automotive shop, we paid tire techs a little over minimum wage. If you could pass a drug test, you were pretty much hired.

I had, at any given moment, 50 to 60 applications in my desk from people looking for work. I could hire and fire the whole crew every week and never run out of applicants.

Start making my burger look like the one in the picture and I might be more sympathetic.

I’ve been “on strike” against fast food restaurants for years*. The decline of the work ethic, of those they hire, is astounding. Why reward (mostly) bad behavior? (By patronizing or by giving them a “demanded” raise?)

(*Chic Fil A is my only exception.)

Or become a trained chef and work for the upper class.

Definitely an option. But in this environment, the waitresses and waiters (rare) make decent tips, especially when you figure even 10% (low, but with prices what they are not bad money), and the most energetic and personable often make more.

Fast food workers in Williston, North Dakota are making right around $15.00/hr to start.

Just out of curiosity, what is a Big Mac going for in Williston these days?

If it's not appreciably more than someplace where they're making $7.35, they are going to win this, and pretty handily. Particularly with Santorum and Romney jumping on board.

Just sayin'

The combo is about $10, iirc (I don't do Micky D's).

The best 'fast food' buys are national pizza chains which have specials advertised, but the Pizza Hut ran out of cheese about a week ago--a relative delivers pizzas for Dominoes and said her day was just nuts.

IF I lived closer to some of these closures, I would be volunteering my bookkeeping skills to prepare final paychecks.

Best of both; waitress while training to become an upper class chef. The Gulf Arabs will pay buku bucks to get the best they can possibly find.

“unfouled by subliterate, truculent, cretins.”

Aw,come on,that’s a bit harsh.

Lots of us started out in our teens with low paying jobs. Most of these kids will move on,it’s the lazy that stay there that are the problem.

Perhaps wherever you live the fast food industry still employs teenagers, but in Houston and surrounding suburbs, urban youth (black) or OOWs (Offsprings Of Wetbacks) are nearly all you will encounter.
