Gallup Poll: Strong Majority Now Believe Gays Should Be Allowed to Adopt Kids
Christian Post ^ | 06/02/2014 | Napp Nazworth

A strong majority, 63 percent, of Americans now say that same-sex couples should have a legal right to adopt a child, according to a new Gallup poll. About one in three, 35 percent, are opposed.

The result is the opposite of 1992, when Gallup first polled the question. Sixty-three percent said homosexual couples should not be legally permitted to adopt in that year. In 1998, that number declined to 57 percent. In 2003 and 2007, Americans were about equally divided on the question.

The recent poll was the first time Gallup showed a clear majority supportive of giving same-sex couples the legal right to adopt a child.

The strongest support came from Democrats (80 percent), followed by independents (61 percent), then Republicans (51 percent).

Young people were more supportive than older people. Among ages 18 to 29, 77 percent answered that same-sex couples should have the right to adopt, followed by 65 percent for ages 30 to 49, 59 percent for ages 50 to 64 and 52 percent for those 65 and older.

As Gertrude Stein said, homosexual men have to do drugs and alcohol to palliate their horrible acts.”

Did Stein really say that?

Interesting.

A lesbian not overly fond of gay men I guess? She’s an “interesting” figure. A great self-promoter, but, let’s face it, modern art would not be the same without her and her brother. I give her credit for that.

This is a famous conversation that Stein had with Hemingway. An old Italian man had made a pass at Hemingway (he was a good looking young man) and he complained to Stein about it. She took the time to speak very knowledgeably about homosexuality - particularly her distain for certain acts. Of course, she was in a long-term Boston marriage but it never coopted her common sense. She was also a rock-ribbed Republican who loved America and loathed communism.

She was a genius in many of her writings and she and Leo were visionary in their knowledge and promotion of modern art.

The Gestapo almost destroyed her priceless Paris art collection when she was in exile in Vichy land. Fortunately, they got distracted by her wardrobe. Neighbors peeking into the apartment saw Gestapo members trying on her clothes. True story!

I’m a NYer. And, yes, everyone publicly supports homosexual rights. But, come on, haven’t you ever been in a private conversation when the same big lib admitted that he was turned off by fruits? It happens all the time with me. Particularly women seem to distain them...

dunno

why not ask the founders of the various TEA party organizations around the country if they felt ‘threatened’ during those audits ordered by the white hut

I have to admit that New Yorkers are a strange lot. They say one thing in private but vote the opposite when the time comes to put their money where their mouth is.

Many complain about taxes being too high, and then vote for Bill de Blasio, who in his campaign, PROMISES TO RAISE TAXES.

Maybe they think that it’s someone else whose taxes are going up, not theirs...

BS push-poll...most hang up; those who don’t, don’t want to make the person feel bad on the other end.

Thanks for the nice post. I have gay friends who adopted a third world orphan, and he is loved, and has a much better life than he would have. If there were extra married (M-F) couples who didn’t get to adopt, then I’d be against it.

But kids need all the love they can get, and there’s no more reason to believe that a gay father would sexually abuse his son than a straight father would sexually abuse his daughter.

I have yet to see a kid raised by gay “parents” who isn’t a psychological ruin.

Adopted kids have it hard regardless.

Just look up Frank Lombard the former Associate Director of Duke University’s Center for Health Policy. Horrible. I hope he’s still in prison.

"The vast majority of Freepers I’m sure think those women are headed for the lake of fire."

It's not what anyone thinks or believes. It's what Scripture clearly says about lesbians and homosexuals. It's a sin, and unless one comes to Christ and repents of that sin, the destination is clear.

" Sorry, but I just can’t believe a just god would do that."

Well, again, you can create a god of your own understanding, give him the attributes you think he should have, but that's self-delusion. It has no basis in reality. God is completely just, loving, and holy, but folks tend to gloss over that last one. No unrepented sin can or will exist in the presence of His holiness. And no works, including adoption, can get you into heaven. If that were possible, Jesus's suffering on the Cross would have been unnecessary.

Insane statement.

Suggest you do a search for the Folsom Street Fair. You'll find pictures of queer men parading their adopted children around in leather bondage gear.

Sorry, “a state-run orphanage” was not the only alternative, and I think you know that very well. I’ll add that the argument-by-extreme-example you used is typical of leftist gay agitators. The more common gay-parenting situations today are (a) a mom/dad has a change of heart, leaves one biological parent of the child behind and takes up with a same-sex partner; or (b) a child conceived artificially (by surrogacy or in vitro of a lesbian parent) is adopted by the non-biological partner in the gay pair. Check out Elton John’s kids, and tell me they are well off.

Think Paul Lynde on Hollywood Squares in the 70s. Sure everyone knew about him, but they didn’t care....they saw gays as these silly, effeminate guys who could be funny......of course nobody made the connection as to how sordid their private lives really were.

Yes, it does.

A few of the posts on this thread are pretty clearly indicative of where the GOP is headed.
