Actually, there are any number of political reasons he could have done it. All against the policy and law of the US.
His flunky Rice trying to explain the urgency of doing what they needed to do that required not telling Congress was laughable. “We felt that his health could have deteriorated so much....blah blah blah...that we had to act with urgency when the “opportunity came up” How did it come up? Secondly, while she says the ‘urgency’ of the situation demanded the action, she says “Congress WAS [sort of] informed earlier in the administration when situations like this ‘might’ come up” [or some such BS as that}.
The fact is that in order for them to have any inkling of this guy’s health, they would have had to have had knowledge of where he was and how he was. This then, begs the questions, why wait until his health (supposedly) deteriorated? Did Obama not go in and shoot Osama Bin Laden himself (to hear him tell it vicariously)? The fact is that the Pentagon knew where he was, how he got there and WHY he was there - and they just didn’t want to waste any more troops trying to rescue him.
This administration’s spiel always falls apart when someone starts thinking logically and without the “First Black President who must be protected at all costs” filter.
And finally, I find it whimsical that this occurs in the midst of Carney’s departure. Perhaps, did Carney finally get some integrity (doubtful) and just not want to go into another Rogers & Hammerstein Broadway play in the press briefings, again?
This has nothing to do with having to get Bergdahl back and everything to do with the Muslim Brotherhood pressure within the Obama administration to return key Taliban terrorists. Next on the agenda: the blind Sheikh.

Obama seems to think that a great speech and the public's adulation for him will "fix" the problem. His speech and the phony resignation of Gen. Shinseki in Obama's mind will make the VA scandal go away. Labeling the IRS scandal a political witch hunt and his assurance there was not a smidgen of corruption at the IRS will end that mess. His continued assurances that you can keep your doctor and insurance plan and save $2500 per year will offset the fact that it was a total lie. Obama is delusional.
