Americans are starting to doubt President Obama is a good boss
Washington Post ^ | 6/3/14 | Chris Cillizza

For all of the talk about "hope" and "change" — and both were powerful slogans for Obama in 2008 — the core of Obama's appeal to many independents and even some Republicans was the idea that he would restore competence back to the White House after President George W. Bush's eight years, years defined by mistaken intelligence about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and a mishandling of the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast. Obama openly embraced the idea that he was the anti-Bush on nothing much more than his commitment to putting the best people in the right places within his administration. (Remember the whole "Team of Rivals" thing?)

As conservative columnist Jeff Jacoby writes in the Boston Globe: "Running to succeed the deeply polarizing George W. Bush, Obama held himself out not just as a leader who would never 'pit red America against blue America,' but as a natural-born manager whose hallmark was smarts and competence."

Which is what makes the series of problems within his administration of late all the more politically problematic for Democrats trying to hold onto their Senate majority — and narrow their House minority — this November. The current scandal engulfing the VA is the latest example of competence questions surrounding this White House, but they include everything from the rollout of HealthCare.gov to the targeting of tea party groups by a Cincinnati IRS office. While none of these problems are easily tied directly to a decision Obama made (or didn't make), they have all eroded the public's faith that he knows what he's doing.

Another facet to this is that the media made this guy and they can destroy him, if they wanted to. They could roll his skinny behind in less than a day if they really put their mind to it. We will see though.

0bama is doing as much damage as he can before next January, figuring that he will just veto any legislation that seeks to undo what he has done.

He will continue his full-blown Executive Order assault on the Constitution until the day he leaves office on the theory that he will have accomplished so much damage, and moved the goal posts so far, no following administration will ever undo all of it.

And I thank 51-53% of the American people who made it all happen.

About 4 years ago, on a FB thread, my niece’s brother-in-law was astounded that I believed Obama was evil to the core. I wonder what he is thinking now. For any intellectually honest person who follows closely, I don't see how they could conclude otherwise.

That's a really good point.

They made him, have maintained him, and they could drive him from office if the chose.

If he were a Republican they would, of course.

Ahhh...

Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction - Congress agreed with him...

mishandling of the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - it was not his job until the local democrap machine failed miserably at caring for their own and already had things royally screwed up.

There is something profoundly not right with him.

He's pretty easy to understand really. Bill Clinton was/is sociopathic. That is, he has no grasp of actions and reactions regarding human perception of himself. He does not feel shame or remorse. He doesn't feel empathy. He can feel sympathy however (usually for himself). What made Clinton so hard to figure out was that he was a good liar and great actor.

Obama phones it in. He's lazy. He is the guy that THINKS he is the smartest in the room. He doesn't know any better. At the same time, he is insecure as a result of never earning an accolade by only his own honest merits. He knows he is a fraud while at the same time using his arrogance and condescension to belittle others when challenged with intelligence and logic. OBAMA WILL ALWAYS HAVE AN ANSWER and an excuse. He surrounds himself with petty pitty pushers. They tell him he's great. They make fun of opponents and bolster his ego. They contort real world views for him to fit his comfort zone.

This is revealed in the speeches he reads that are written by others. He doesn't remember most of what he has previously said because he believes in so little. What he says is only a tool to push a means to an end. The words matter little to him. And you will notice, the longer he is in office, the more crass and direct he becomes. His "off the cuff" comments are the best revelation of who he is and what he believes. The rest is just a show, smoke and mirrors to influence public opinion.

“until the local democrap machine failed miserably at caring for their own “

The LA gov, Landrieu, was ready to accept federal assistance until Hillary Clinton went down there and got on a phone with the DNC with the gov and put the kibosh on assistance.

It was a political move. Purely. And people died as a result, not to mention the sullying of the W Presidency.

I do not accept the premise of George W. Bush’s “mistakes.” I don’t agree with him, or anybody else, on everything, but he was a fine president. The media was the only entity who “polarized” people’s views of W. At least he had the best in mind for the country, unlike the America-hater we have now.

I "mostly" agree with you. I'll give him "fine" not great. Bush got soft and squishy in his second term, especially the last two years. He started caring about public opinion and wanted media & democrats to like him. The spending, education, medicare, etc. all pushed him back to mediocre.

I am very thankful he was President when 9/11 occurred and during the recession that followed (along with Tyco, Enron and the tech bubble burst). Those first few years were his finest hours as Commander in Chief.
