Officials in Bergdahl's Hometown: "Stop the Hate"
NBC ^ | 3 June 2014 | BY HASANI GITTENS AND DIANE DUTHWEILER

In Hailey, Idaho, the hometown of freed U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl, the joy at his release has turned for some into shock and fear — the fear of picking up the phone.

That's because some town officials have been deluged with angry calls from people who think that Bergdahl is an Army deserter or traitor who doesn't deserve a hero's welcome.

From comments above, one might surmise that the people of Hailey would respond with “and the problem is?” Sounds like one of those wealthy, elite, exurbs of Hollywood.

Bergdahl’s father is from California. Lots of people from California move to the mountain states.

They are a pestilence in Colorado.

re: the five Taliban scum

maybe there’s a way to spread a viral internet rumor that the five have had tracking devices implanted! Get the Taliban afraid to let them anywhere near (or make the rumor that the devices are planted in their hearts so the Taliban tries field surgery to remove). eeeww....

"caused 6 heroes to die trying to find him"

Read Michele Maklin's piece - it's 8 people, not including those responsible for capturing the Talaban 5.

"Bergdahl got 6 soldiers killed looking for him."

(Michelle Malkin) Exclusive: The Story You Haven’t Yet Heard About Bowe Bergdahl’s Desertion

In addition to Andrews, Casillas, Fairbairn and Martinek, PFC Morriss Walker and Staff Sergeants Clayton Bowen, Kurt Curtiss and Michael Murphrey died as a result of Bergdahl’s abandonment.

That’s eight dead American soldiers (not six, as the rest of the media have reported) betrayed by selfish Bergdahl and reckless President Obama.

Stop hating your country (maybe not yours anymore, moron), stop hating the soldiers - especially the ones you got killed. Yeah, their blood is on YOU, you moron.

“...For its part, the Army has sent mixed messages by first saying they were promoting Bergdahl — who was never declared AWOL — but then announcing on Tuesday that they could still pursue an investigation against Bergdahl for leaving his post.

The mayor of Hailey has asked people to reserve judgement....”
**********************************************************************

I noticed on Fox News video of the “handover” this morning that the American Special Forces were taking no chances with Bergdahl and gave him a thorough “frisking” before they let him get on the chopper. I guess they wanted to make sure this “patriot” wasn’t carrying a bomb under his garb.

By the way, he appeared QUIET HEALTHY AND IN EXCELLENT SHAPE.

But placing “bets” is perfectly fine?

As long as those “bets” are based on denigrating California and her residents, right? Especially when that “bet” is being played to explain some liberal kooks or enclave...I mean, it’s not like there are any liberals ANYWHERE else in the USA, they’re only spawned from California.

California is responsible for every evil and wrong thing that has happened in the USA, right? But it’s perfectly okay to just casually cast these aspersions out there on forums because you’re “better” than us...it’s sanctioned, it’s accepted, hell, it’s even celebrated by certain “conservatives” here on FR...

It’s not like you “called” the “gambler” to show their “hand” now did you?

Sick and tired of this $hit from FReepers who think their underwear are spotless and their feces don’t stink...

“Sick and tired of this $hit from FReepers who think their underwear are spotless and their feces don’t stink...”

I am not sure about your comment about “placing bets.” But if I understand you correctly, we are on the same page. I was born in California in 1940. I’ve lived here all my life and while there is no question that we have a political problem here currently. I am completely amazed at the vituperative language used against this wonderful state! As you say, they all seem to be of the opinion that everyone here is a leftist and that we all should be done in by an earthquake or some other calamity. These morons are understandably upset about the direction our country is heading, but instead of doing (or even saying) something positive about what needs to be done, the prattle on about how CA is the root of all evil. They remind me of people who use foul language. The do so, because they aren’t educated enough to find the right words to convey their thoughts. A lot of them are insufferable “Texans,” who have the mistaken idea that the are in the land of milk and honey and that there is simply nothing wrong in Texas. Nonsense! I have done business in Austin, and It’s San Francisco with cow $hit on your shoes! Sure, there are a lot of things that Texas is doing correctly, but they will suffer what has happened to California sooner or later unless we do something on a concerted basis nationwide to combat the spread of Marxism. And they fail to realize that California was once like Texas back before the Marxists (and queers) sallied forth from the Northeast to plant their seeds of dissent. It’s just that in so many ways California is a desirable place to live, so they passed over Texas initially. But now they have decided to go crap in Texas’ “nest.”

The poster you originally replied to “I bet...”

I’m in California sorta by choice...I accepted a Special Duty Assignment while in the USAF...after retiring, couldn’t find a job outside of CA as I was really tired of a lot of the nonsense politically so I stayed where the job was.

It’s grown on me a bit over the past 20 years, and although I’m not native, nor do I plan to retire here unless things change dramatically from a political perspective, I’ll work to change things and defend it.

Warts and all...no one in any state can claim perfection in theirs and for them to cast stones while standing in a glass house is the most classic example of hypocrisy and hubris.

Tired of it...it’s wasteful and only serves to antagonize for no purpose other than to poke a stick in someone’s eye.

A couple decades ago Hailey was a quiet little mountain town on the way to Ketchum and Sun Valley. But it became an escape for Kalifornians and Joe Smith cult types. Now it seems to just be a Klaven for dimokrats.

Along with that, remember that just as soon as the White Hut photofluck with the Bergiez was over, the Kenyan emplaned for Poland. He would had to have dam near flown over Landstuhl to get there. Any body want to bet me that his actual plan was to be on his way back and just conveniently stop to bring the turncoat punk home in AF 1? We know how much he gives a rip for Poland and actually helping them get missiles. So the Kenyan looks to me to be using AF1 as a taxi for Tallibunnies?
