I have an uncle who worked ground crew at some forsaken bomber airstrip in Siberia. This was at the height of the cold war when bombers were in the air 24/7

The Air Force was the drunkest branch due to limitless ethanol provided for de-icing. Some of the pilots even rigged taps to fill bottles in flight from the de-icer tank.

Surprisingly, accidents were very rare
