Cost of caring for immigrant children
FOX News - Local ^ | June 3, 2014

SAN ANTONIO - It's a heartbreaking story -- a flood of immigrant children being sent over the border alone, into the U.S., with no adult to care for them. About 1,200 are being housed here at Joint Base San Antonio Lackland.

Their plight comes at a huge cost to American taxpayers. It's estimated caring for those unaccompanied immigrant children, as the government calls them, will cost you more than $2 billion this year.

Democrats and Republicans in Congress are blaming each other for why so many kids are crossing the border.

Some of the unaccompanied immigrant children housed at Lackland are as young as three. In 2011, only 6,560 are estimated to have crossed into the U.S. This year the government is expecting 60,000.

"These are children. We can't turn them out on the streets. We can't dump them out at the border," said Democratic Congressman Lloyd Doggett.

Doggett says the U.S. has a duty to help the young people unite with family members who are already here or find them foster homes. In the meantime, the children are receiving classroom education as well as medical and mental health services.

San Antonio's Lamar Smith and other Republicans in Congress blame the influx on President Obama and his push for amnesty and immigration reform.

"The message is, get across the border and you're home free," Smith told us. "That's what is attracting so many young people to come across the border."

the Truth ... this is an invasion designed to create havoc and eventually cause America’s collapse. To believe anything else is to believe a lie. Anyone thinking mexico is not working with the enemy believes another lie.

Look at how Congress [and the Executive] aligns itself w/ Mexico as much as possible — they work for the same enemies.

It is not ‘heartbreaking’. It is utterly contemptible and criminal that Mexican authorities allow it to happen.

The powers that be have determined that our weak point is children and they are using it against us.

As far as I’m concerned, round them up, put them on buses and dump them at the nearest border crossing.

Seriously though the Federal government has a myriad of ways to stop this INVASION including troops on the border, jailing employers of illegal aliens, withholding federal funds of sanctuary cities, freezing the assets of Mexico. But is doing nothing because Uncle Scam is an active participant in this invasion.

Oh, I seriously agree — the FedGov is an active participant in aiding the invasion, and that could be used to seriously kill a lot of our political elite. [Link]
Sanctuary cities shouldn't be dealt with so leniently, instead they should be dealt with as-follows: issue warrants for the arrest of the city-council and mayor [or equivalent], the police chiefs, and the sheriff the city falls under [all for Treason] with a reward of $100,000 after-taxes. — If this fails to generate results, military blockade of the city, cut water and electricity (and blow anything that violates airspace out of the sky); allow citizens to leave, seize the invaders and hang them*, and detain people of whom you are unable to immediately classify.

If no additional illegals come into the country, that would stop the flow, which is the real problem.

Wikipedia on the US/Mexico border:

The border's total length is 1,954 mi, according to figures given by the International Boundary and Water Commission. It is the most frequently crossed international border in the world, with approximately 350 million legal crossings being made annually.
[…]
There are an estimated half a million illegal entries into the United States each year.

Wikipedia on the Paladin:

Crew:                     6
Effective firing range:  11 mi
Operational range:      216 mi
So to cover the border we'd need 1,954 / 22 ≈ 89 Paladins… but that's an under-count because that would entail butting them directly on the border. We would actually want them back a bit.
c² = b² + a²
11²  = 5.5² + a²
121 = 30.25 + a²
90.75 = a²
9.5 ≈ a
So, we could put them 5.5 mi away from the border, allowing them to cover 19 mi of border; this would mean that we'd need 1,954 / 19 ≈ 103 paladins [103 * 6 = 618 men].
Or, we could put them 9.5 mi away from the border, allowing them to cover 11 mi of border; this would mean that we'd need 1,954 / 11 ≈ 178 paladins [178 * 6 = 1,068 men].
(Of course we'd need logistics to support them: meals, munitions, mail, etc.)

See, securing the border is not as hard as they make it out to be.

* Under the rules of war, this is the appropriate punishment for espionage, and what Benedict Arnold was hanged for [IIRC].

I totally agree that the State Governors should declare a state of invasion and arresting government officals for aiding and abetting.

But if it was handled correctly we would not need to defend the border at all. As it stands now the illegal aliens are totally protected by the Courts and law enforcement. If an American citizen so much as touches the hair on the head of an illegal alien for being an illegal or says an unkind word to an illegal alien for being an illegal alien thee entire armed might of the Federal leviathan will come down on that citizen's head like an anvil. If the Courts and police were forced to withdrawal that protection there are plenty of Americans willing to roll out the unwelcome mat and make it very, very undesirable for illegal aliens to even show their faces on the streets.

I suspect that most of these children are from further south.

...Mexican authorities allow it to happen...

While it's Mexican policy to push their poor uneducated citizens to the US, it's American authorities who allow this invasion to happen. We are the fools.

Just let Israel build the same fence they built along their border with Gaza.

Agree here in California it’s a sanctuary state millions of infected people roam around like dogs I wonder who is receiving money or favors in D.C. to allow the flood to go on?.
No reason the feds can’t do what Ike did with operation wet back.

It might be easier to ask who isn't — there are lots of pressures to keep illegal immigration going, as well as technically-legal but fundamentally-fraudulent visa-program abuses. (The latter can be seen in STEM-jobs where the 'requirements' listed are absurd, like 2-5+ years of experience for an entry-level job.) There's also the issue of flooding the voter-roles with people who will vote for the uniparty, as it is the facade is slipping and people are becoming more aware that the Republican/Democrat split is for display purposes only.

All the more reason to flush out the uniparty but so few are aware of it they vote with blinders on and only listen to BS in ads the dumbing down program has work all to well plus add in the free ride slackers it’s an up hill battle.
