At that stage, Hillarys visit was at the concept stage, not 100 percent finalized. An October 2012 photo-op and victory dance in the end zone would clearly help Obamas re-election campaign with his weak foreign policy. However, Hillary Clinton herself has little to show for her term as secretary of state and needed a big moment in her diplomatic career.
Furthermore, Adm. Lyons has discovered that Barack Obamas war in Libya was unnecessary. After the first few days of the initial bombing, Libyan President Moammar Gadhafi offered to abdicate. The deaths of tens of thousands of Libyans could have been avoided. However, Obama refused (did not respond). Gadhafis condition was that Libya continue to fight al-Qaida. The Obama administration would not accept the early surrender of Gadhafi because it would not benefit Islamic jihadis and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Listen to radio clips of Adm. Lyons: clip No. 1 and clip No. 2.
I sure hope the Admiral can substantiate this. Hil’s photo op seems like a loopy-long-shot idea; however; the story about Gahafi’s offer to surrender if Libya kept fighting Al-Qaeda is devastating if it can be supported.
It does help to explain why Hillary, above all others in that clown Administration, was so upset with the Benghazi attack.
Obamalies + Hillylies = Low information voter VICTORY!
Ok. Frankly, this does explain why the State Department was silencing employees. That didn’t wash with the concept of CIA gun-running. It also explains why the ‘Mission’ looked so picturesque, vs. the typical US-designed consular buildings that focus on security, rather than as being backdrops for photo-ops. (see here http://www.donparrish.com/LibyaWeb/USEmbassyTripoli.jpg)
Though the allegation doesn’t change much in the scheme of things, other than to portray conservatives as conspiracy-theorists and rally the left in their common mental deficiency...as without testimony from a State employee on this, and without people actively investigating it (journalists or otherwise), it’s just another opinion. I truly hope someone finds one or two who want to go public on this without waiting until summer of ‘16.
And insofar as the Libyan allegation goes, history has time to judge the Puppet, and harshly he will be judged despite all the spin and attempts to control the public domain narrative. Progressives may be content in their little fantasy for now, but reality is right around the corner.
It is interesting that while one Navy admiral (Lyons) has worked to expose the underlying Benghazi issues another admiral (Mullen) has worked to whitewash it. The latter headed the State Department’s Accountability Review Board which did NOT interview either Hillary Clinton or Tom Donilon, national security adviser at the time.
OK. Qadaffi wanted to abdicate within a few days of the start of the fighting.
But, why did Hillary and Obama attack the government of Libya in the first place?
